I have a 14 month old 180 4motion Cali.
It has broken down three times. Each time the power steering has failed.
This is due to a belt from the alternator being damaged.
It turns out that on September the 15th a Tpi was issued (technical update ) from VW uk. It states that on the t5 california there is a weakness in this area due to the greater pressure/load placed on the engine of the California. This does not affect T5 vans in general.
A list of parts to be replaced was issued including a different belt tensioner. Software has also been updated and the idle speed of the engine has been increased.
I am not a techie so there could be more to it. I would recommend that you ask your VW dealer about this if you have a 2015 california.
