Hello all, Has anyone taken out a “pre paid” service agreement with VW ? And if so, does it have an expiry date OR just ends after the paid amount of services have been undertaken ? ? We couldn’t get our California its 2nd service due to Covid - dealership told us as the vehicle wasn’t for use for our ” livelihood” we’d have to wait (fair enough). So we waited . . . booked appt once we knew everything was opening up, finally took Cali for its service only to be presented with a bill because our plan had “expired” - fuming is an understatement - after 4 phone calls appealing to their hopefully softer side, am awaiting reply from VW Finance who at first, basically said “Tuff”.

Hi Lorri,

not sure what plan you have? Or the detail.

the VW serving deal does not have an expiry date, after all everyone does different mileages, has different driving styles etc.
The T6 has sensors in oil sump and a computer to advise when servicing is required (long life service regime).

How can a prepaid service schedule have a “use by date”,

as I understand you tried to book in for a service and were refused by the business whom would have serviced your vehicle !

the whole thing does not sound correct,

did you pay on a credit card ?

Edit: please name the dealer so others are aware

There is a VW website where you can purchase a service plan,

you enter your registration, if you have a plan, the website will tell you that you cannot purchase another, may be worth locating the website and checking

edit:

here is the link

i have a service plan, when I enter my Reg & mileage it says “you already have a service plan, contact dealer“

Cheers. I bought second-hand 2 months ago, paid for a service plan, but it still let's me try and buy one. I think I've got some checking up to do...

I think I have a dispute with VW brewing...

I bought a four service plan - two minor, two major. I was told they could be used at any VW service centre throughout the EU.

The first service fell due when we were in Spain, and we were not due back in the UK for ~7 months. I phoned VW customer services to check the procedure for using the service plan in Spain, and they informed me it couldn’t be used in Spain. I paid for the service on my bank card.

I have since used three services in the UK but have been told all four have been used. They have taken that first service in Spain from my pre-paid plan.

I’ll just have to wait and see what happens when Amarillo goes in for service 5...

Bought 2 service plan back in 2017 with the Cali.
I had to provide documentary proof to the Dealer that I had actually purchased it from when first service visit made??.
One done, interim, at 2 years.
Second, full service, done at 4 years.

Cali came up with service due at year one with 7,500 miles recorded. Was/is set for 2 years or 20,000 miles. Did a local oil change and reset service indicator.
Local oil change done at year three also.

Service Deal is with VWUK not a dealer.

We have emailed over to the dealership all copies of documents we have from them plus our “welcome/thanks for taking out a VW service plan” letter from VW finance, plus screen shots of the VW website FAQs page where they state service plan expires when all services have been used - doesn’t mention plans have expiry dates.
1st call - VW Cust Svc ended with a straight forward “you had your chance, tuff” - and an ubrupt end to call from their end.
2nd call - VW Cust svc - call the dealership who sold you plan.
3rd call - dealership - They said call VW, finally got them to agree to give email details to send docs - they rang half hour later asking our registration no: cause they couldn’t see it on docs - reaaalllllly put your glasses on It’s typed on three different documents clear as day.
4th call - back to VW - can we email over docs to you too please, “NO, we have everything we need to know thank you” can I speak to a supervisor ? NO.
You can’t seem to get passed the first call handler at VW to speak to another voice, as they have to “email” our query onto someone/somewhere else, but we don’t know who or where ! !
The phone calls will start again on Monday - I’m glad others are on our wavelength re the apparent non expiry date.
Thanks people

NAME DEALERSHIP, this just seems so wrong and unfair, what do the other dealerships who use this forum think? Is this right?

I would first start quoting the consumer rights act at them. You could also try claiming the money back through your credit or debit card if you paid like that.
They cannot just do whatever they like.

I think the service plans only allow you to do consecutive services. By doing one outside the plan, you may have invalidated your service plan.

If that is what VW will tell me when the next service is due, I will simply remind them that it was they who told me that I had to pay for the first service in Spain.

The only thing is what type of service haven't you used & what's due next? It would be wrong to expect a free major service if you've already had two of them & its was just an interim one you paid for.

I’ve had two major services and two minor services. The service we had in Castillo de la Plana was a minor service.

GOOD NEWS
Phone calls started again on Monday, dealership & VWFS.
After saying we are prepared to take this matter further the Call handler at VWFS finally asked would we like to log a “complaint” (thought I already had last week ! !)
Late Tuesday afternoon received a call from a VW Case Operative, our service charges will be waived and dealership just needs to invoice VWFS. Phew.

I was on the vw site this morning checking what it said about my services - that clearly shows 2 services still to be taken but also shows a contract expiry date of 21st December 2024 - ie the day the van is 4 years old.

On the other hand our VW UP is now 4 years old & came with 2 years free servicing & that is showing as one remaining to be taken with no expiry date.
