Rear scissors mechanism missing bolts

I was meaning put the stud in from the bracket side into the insert visible. Cutting the head off the bolt may just give the room required to fit a stud and then a nut.

Good idea. That is thinking outside the box. A nut on a stud may be workable. Alternatively, I could keep my fingers crossed till I get home in a 1000km and let the dealer sort it under warranty. Although I'm a little bit worried that I may have crossed the thread during my emergency fix in the dark in the middle of nowhere trying to keep the roof on!

If it's under warranty, do vw assist help with stuff like this? Not sure as mine is long gone from warranty world.
