If you add a 10mm ball valve as #9, take care with whatever 10mm hose clips you find. I gently tightened them until the joints were water tight, and then left a tissue hankie under zone so I could be sure there were no leaks subsequently (which there had been to start with). I have in the past over-tightened clips on 10mm joints with my irrigation system and have been left with permanent slight leaks. I think at this diameter this can be a problem. Thanks, I will be gone by then, I will look into changing the connector when I get back.
Update : I have been using the sink sporadically and there are no issues (for now), maybe playing with the connector has been helpful. I will apply some electric razor lubricant for extra measure and look for a 10mm inline valve for extra security (when I am not using the shower every day).
If you the joints do leak (not likely if you take care) you can remedy with silicone but the joints need to be dry first and kept dry for the curing time (several hours).
