Reimo Cab Window Vents not fitting properly

Hi. I have just purchased a set of Reimo cab window vents for our T5 California from Camperco. They look very similar to the Brandrup version. However I cannot get them to fit properly.
The top section will not fit parallel to the top of the window frame and where the two parts of the vent joins it sticks out providing a leverage point to break in to the van. I have contacted Camperco but they just think I am incompetent!
I would appreciate knowing if anyone else had similar problems with these vents?
I am wondering if I have been sent the wrong item...
