Hi

My T5 Cali roof hatch roller shutter has split into 2 sections and I can’t reattach - seems like the plastic has split. I’ve been searching for a replacement but can’t find anywhere selling this part. Anyone know where to find one?

thanks, Jon.

VW , take a look at the dealers reviews section for a decent dealer in your area or you could try the clubshop / @CampervanBits to ask them to order it for you .
You can try and repair it in the meanwhile using ductape on the upper side .

I thought that was ‘cheap’ for once. Try buying a cupboard door...

Why not try and stick it back together with a tube of superglue gel.. If its knackered anyway you have nothing to lose. If you were careful you could probably do an almost invisible mend..

We need a picture of it,
then Pete can see if it's repairable.

Thanks. I’m off to my local VW garage on Friday for some other work and was able to order one through them this afternoon. Also ordered some other bits via the shop. Excellent service.

Have now ordered a new one but will keep the old one as a spare with superglue and gaffer tape Holding it together!

The shutter is another one of those things on the California that needs to be treated very carefully when opening and closing it.. The other day mine came adrift off both sides but a bit of careful maneuvering got it back into the sliding rail..Luckily nothing broken... Next time i open and close it i will be watching it very carefully...

My roller shutter has come apart. Tried double sided tape. It sort of worked but the tape was too thick and the shutter wouldn't fully retract. The original tape looked alot thinner and more rubbery. Anyone know what it was? Got some of that tape to fix the wardrobe cupboard. Might try a bit of that but the gap it slots into is very tight so.suspecting that tape would rub off. Apart from a new one, any other answers?

pop rivets, plastic rivets or fir tree fasteners, if the last resort is a new one anything is worth a try!

i think pop rivets would stick up too much to prevent full retraction. like i said even with double sided tape it wouldn't go back. good idea though

Well. Inspired by the pop rivets suggestion here's my fix. Carefully countersink the holes so the rivets sit flush. Bit of that fibre glass tape and hey presto. Fixed. Slides back fully

That's how a dc3 is held together, if you wanted to be really posh you could fill over the rivets and sand down

ha. it will do like this. you can't see the repair from the underside and with the bed up and hatch slid back, you still can't see it. works fine. 150 quid saved

This same thing happened to ours. Couldn't work out what the rubbery stuff is, seems more of a spacer than the means of attachment. We just put a piece of double-sided tape at either end & now it works fine again.

I agree there. I initially thought it was double sided tape
