Reversing Sensor problem

Hi, can anyone suggest a fix ?
The reversing sensors have just stopped working on our 09 California. The dasboard push button switch lights up and the beep continues for several seconds. Following that the sensors don't work. Presumably one or more of them has developed a fault. Is there a simple way to check them individually?

Maybe moisture has got in one of them? Worth trying to dry them out with a hair dryer; see if you can see the inside of the bumper looking from underneath, could be a build up of mud. Otherwise as Loz said you will need to get someone with OBD equipment to diagnose the fault.

Some simple checks you can carry out, but you may need to plug into a Diagnostic Computer.

Have a look at the VCDS/Carista thread to see if anyone is nearby who can scan your computer :)

There's a quick way to identify if you've a sensor fault. Without the engine running, turn the ignition to the 'on' position and select reverse gear. Go to each of the sensors and put your ear to them. They should make a clicking noise. If it's not clicking then you've either got a faulty sensor or a more likely a break in the wiring loom. A fault like this often renders the entire system useless.

Nothing silly like something plugged in a towbar electrical socket? causing it to be disabled.
