reversing sensor

when i put van in reverst i just get one long beep will not go off .if i put in to a gear it will stop.but now nothing happens at all .does not pick up anything at the back of van when going back now .these are vw ones .not after market ones .so were do i start with this then guys :headwall 2006 calie

Do you have a tow ball fitted? Our Galaxy had this problem as the sensors picked up the "nudge plate" rendering the reverse sensor useless!
I'd also make sure there wasn't any muck on the sensors.

One of the sensors is probably simply broken.
Take the van into the dealer: I found finding which one was a terrible job and they did it in a few minutes.

The dealer tool VAS or VCDS will normally tell you which has failed.

Generally quite easy to replace, they are self adhesive on the back of the bumper, but the ball ache is having to paint it.

If a tow bar was properly fitted then the parking controller would be coded as such so you should get issues.
