Rhythmic wheel noise

Hi, I’ve got a 2010 Cali with a recently replaced tyre but it’s now making a rhythmic rubbing noise once per turn it seems. Turning, braking, speeding up don’t seem to have an affect, it’s very frustrating as supposed to be heading off with family tomorrow for Christmas but not confident I should. I’ve jacked it up myself with van jack (ie not that high) and taken all the wheels off and on but no change and couldn’t see anything obvious. Mentioned it at a standalone garage last week when it went in for a service but they “didn’t have time” and basically guessed it might be bearings going but I’ve had that before and it didn’t sound the same. All other garages were then maxed pre Xmas rush. Actually sounds similar to when I’d changed a wheel before and a couple of wheel nuts were just a bit loose, but have tightened all nuts again to no effect. Have read a similar thread from someone with a ticking wheel sound from wheel weights but this is more of a rhythmic rubbing sound. Any help welcome!!

When you jack up each axle and spin each wheel is there a bind or sound? Is there any wear and rub marks on the tyres, rims or disks?

Could the change of tyre be a coincidence rather than the starting event?

Stone picked up in the brake backplate scraping the brake disc? Normally a scrape / squealing until it spits it out.
My 4 Pennorth.

Have to admit only got to spinning one of the wheels but nothing was heard, and it was the fresh tyre. Could be a coincidence it happening just after tyre has been changed (insert film quote about not believing in coincidences??) Nothing else on disks or general area that I could see comparing them to each other.

Odd extra thing that also may also be unrelated, but the general wheel well area of the new (4 weeks now) tyre had a very unpleasant smell about it, not rubbery and not something I had smelt before or recognised, hydraulics came to mind (though don’t know what that smells like either!) but couldn’t find any evidence of leaks or the like. Maybe the noise is something rubbing and wearing away and I’m smelling it being turned to dust??

Beyond general low level repairs I’m no mechanic so unless it’s something obvious like the reverse brake test (tried with no success) or next door neighbours cat in the disks then I’m prob stuck waiting for a garage spot…
