I have a noise

It doesn’t sound like anything major to me, so I wouldn’t worry about driving your Cali (Mechanic by trade)
Oh thank you for that. That makes me feel a lot better. Can’t waut to get it fixed, I want to go away while weather holds

Should be an easy fix by the sounds of it. Keep us posted what it is! Have fun in this nice weather

Yeah I’ll definitely report back. And thank you everyone. I don’t post much, and have not been online for a while. But I do check through now I’m back online.

Jack it up,loosen all wheel bolts and remove wheel and look for any score marks on caliper or inside of wheel rim. Or anything that stands. This should at least eliminate things a little.

Had a similar noise once on my old S-max after having new tyres fitted. The tyre fitter had doubled up on wheel weights inside the rim and they were clipping the brake calliper. I could see the shiny gouge marks on the brand new wheel weights which helped me diagnose what was happening. Annoying but quickly solved by the tyre fitter redoing the wheel balance and more carefully placing the weights.
Hi guys, this was the verdict. All sorted. Was a weight badly fitted and rubbing. If I hear that again after a tyre change I won’t be alarmed lol. Thanks for all your help everyone!!

Some very clever (and helpful) people on this forum. Dealers should do a search on the forum before giving advice like ‘kitchen needs to come out’ or ‘don’t drive it,it’s dangerous’ etc.

Mot, service, and tyres were due so got it all done at once. I would happily get tyres elsewhere. Maybe they have learnt to put weights on properly now.

£800 on two front tyres?! Mine just cost me £175 - what did you get?

I think the OP said that included the service and MOT.

(But I'd never think of buying tyres from a car dealership, I can only guess it'll be double the price than you'd pay from Black Circles or whoever.)

How much were the tyres?
£150 each. So knock £300 off. I still think the bill was steep. It passed MOT which was £35, rest was service and labour. But that’s what you get when you go to a dealership rather than a trusted mechanic elsewhere I guess.

I only have green flag cover, should I get the VW cover?

I would stick with green flag. I think VW breakdown is supported by the AA. Go with the cheapest option. VW Renewal came up cheaper as I have been with them. Green flag online couldn’t even recognise my reg number so I dismissed trying to join them. I’m VW covered again now.

I’d stick with what you’ve got. I’ll go with the cheapest. Vw renewal was cheaper for me that starting again with someone new
