Hi, as a new owner I am kitting out my new Cali and I am trying to come up with the best cost effective solution to carry my 2 man kayak.
I bought a set of VW bars but on reflection the accessory options for carrying a big kayak are limited.
The dealer says he will refund the bars if I find an alternative non vw solution.
I don't want to go down the Kari-tec route but want to be able to load the Kayak single handed if necessary without resorting to portable benches etc. Am considering the Thule slide bars for side loading or Thule professional bars with a roller for rear loading.
They disadvantages with the sliders apart from cost is that they seem to be rattle prone due to the sliding clearances.
Loading from the rear will be hampered by my tow ball mounted bike rack.
I don't fancy lifting the roof with a 32 Kilo kayak on board so quick /easy loading and removal is essential.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Cheers
Steve
