Does any one know the purpose of the plastic flat bar at the front of the roof bellows, on the inside of a T5.1. The one that folds in the middle when lowering the roof.

We may have managed to snap it above the designed bend and wondering if this will have a detrimental effect or not, and if it’s replaceable.

Thanks.

If I understand you correctly you are referring to the vertical plastic strip that is inside the bellows? If so, this strip is to make sure your bellows fold down the right way when lowering the roof. So that the bellows do not get trapped and damaged when closing the roof. If this is indeed what you mean, you could read this thread. You are not the first this happened to. ;-)

It's there to assist the bellows fabric to fold inwards. I snapped it on a T5.1 we had. You have to be that extra bit careful in future when lowering the roof i. Just pull in the fabric as it starts to decend. Not worth considering a repair/replacement imo.

Thanks for the link to that thread. I assume
The bungee that is in place around the whole roof will do a fair bit of the work to fold the fabric correctly.

You can buy some carbon fibre strip and cut to size then unstitch the original and replace. The strip has an upper and lower piece with stitch canvas hinge between, see this old thread ...
