Roof canvas

About to go off in camper van. Lent it to my son, who managed to catch canvas in shutting mechanism and has 2 small splits over the actual folding mechanism so does not go right through the canvas. Annoying as we have had van for > 4 years and always do walk round and double check before closing roof. Wanted to know quickly, as we are going today, what best repair stuff is and has anyone had their whole roof canvas replaced, sorry haven't got time this morning to search and read all threads.
