Hi I have a 2008 t5 California and the roof sags on one side a little over night especially when it's hot.
So I am planing on changing the hydronic strut on that side.
Vw want £327 just for the strut and labour on top of that
Does anyone know where else I can get the strut ? Apart from vw
And any help or advice on how to fix it myself ?
Picture guides would help

Thanks john

That is crazy money a gas strut is not usually very expensive. I struggle to understand why its so much even with labour!

On my old vans I always used these guys and fitted them myself. If they don't have one they can re-gas your old one.

I think the OP is referring to the Hydraulic Ram.

is that price for a hydraulic strut or a gas strut for a manual roof?

Before you replace it; you did try to put it up and close down a couple of times? Helped tremendously on our Bus’ sagging roof.

Those things happen , if it don't looses all the pressure overnight but only drops a few cm once a while i think your better of leaving things ad it is.
After the repair you could end up with more problems , been told here before.
Did you check the oil level ?

Thanks for the advice guys

I haven’t checked the hydrolic oil as I can’t see any leaks.
I have tried lifting roof and dropping two or three times and still drops a little.
It’s worse when in hot weather and drops quite a bit and sometimes the auto roof kicks in to raise roof. And gives us a fright in the middle of the night.
Ocationaly it stays up all night
