Sat Nav and On Board Computer

I've got factory sat nav. When you start route guidance the directions also come up on the dash display. Problem is I then can't get the average fuel consumption, tank range etc to show. Is there a way around this? VW handbook is not much help.

On mine you just scroll across to the other functions like you normally would.

I'm normally technology literate, I'll have to try again and check I wasn't being a muppet!
