Side bars and insurance

We had some chrome side bars fitted last year and at renewal they asked if I had made any modifications, jokingly I said about the side bars and they said I should of told them before they were fitted, apparently this could of voided my insurance

Just a bit of advice, if you change your wheels, have your van lowered etc... you MUST tell your insurer as they will use this to get out of paying out!

It does vary from company to company. CC weren't interested unless it is performance related. So sidebars didn't matter, nor the front bar. But changing suspension components for non OEM were as were brake or engine mods. BUT if included on the original VW invoice then OK.
Best to check though.
