So how long does a screen wash nozzle last?

5k is one answer! My driver side was garbage when I bought the van. I ignored it in disgust for the next 10k.
Replaced it today. £42 from VW.

Easy enough. Tested it. Works fine. Passenger side is now down to 2 jets. Seriously?

How can these things be so bad?

Never replaced ours last van over 90k. They did pack up a couple of times, always fixed by poking with a hypodermic needle. We live in a hard water area, and the pipes clog up with limescale.

I can imagine your joy when you have a good squirt.

If it’s any consolation I bought some new OEM wipers a little while back, as a real treat, and they’re crap.

Get the generic ones?

What do you fill your reservoir up with? Never fill it up with tap water. Always use rain water or destilled water with your screen wash.
My misty nozzles have never clogged up in 15 years and over 211000km. And I hope they never will, because the new ones are old fashioned jet nozzles, and I don't like that. I like the misty spray nozzles.

Still going strong after 10yrs and 140,000 miles. Used all year round and never garaged.

Whilst on the topic. These nozzles are heated, allegedly. We drove to the Alps last Christmas and the washer jets failed 5 mins south of Calais! Great.

You seem to have a lot of niggles with this new vehicle.

Have you tried Prestone windscreen wash? In theory it melts ice down to -10 C.

Sounds like its your screen wash you need to be looking at rather than the jets.

If they are heated limescale blocks them if you use tap water in a hard water area.
Strip a bit of multicore cable & use one strand or get a sewing needle to rod out the jets. If its already blocked you've got nothing to loose.

Anyway, problem solved. Whip the nozzle off and dump it in a mug of de-scaler for half an hour.

I have a spare now at least.
