I would, I’ve been there and had the same experience.
In the first year of ownership, our van was in and out of Bilston for 4 weeks and they always had a tale to tell !!!!
I wouldn’t go near them again, I now travel the extra miles to use Clark’s in Kirkcaldy.
I stay in Fife about 12 miles from Kirkcaldy and after purchasing our Cali from Listers in Coventry I needed some warranty works done within the first month of purchase.
These works were carried out by VW Specialist Cars Van Centre, Kirkcaldy ( AKA Clark Commercials / part of the John Clark motor Group )
Although the works carried out were minimal, all work was completed to my satisfaction with minimal hassle - adjustment to the bonnet to stop the door open warning light coming on and fitting the led torch to the rear of the drivers seat which was on the original spec but not installed, this was noted to Listers when I picked up the vehicle who informed VW therefore warranty claim
Only complaint would be the limited parking in the forecourt / service area as its jam packed with vehicles for sale
I feel embarassed for Clark Commercials to be posting this....
So, yet again, having been promised pretty much every day that I would be called with a status update the following day (they have not managed it a single time...) I rang them this afternoon, only to be informed the two guys whi are ‘on the case’ are no away for the weekend and not back until Monday (that will be Day 13 of the 6hr job).
So I wasn’t even given the chance to say just get my van back to me whilst we await the delivery of the correct colour wind out awning...
Right now, I’m contemplating selling (despite the fact I love my Cali) as I can’t ever imagine VW in Scotland can offer even ‘adequate’ service...
I am sure I will have the same feeling when I finally get my Cali back and all the work has been completed. Fingers crossed it isn’t too kuch longer...I had the very same thought’s about selling,
but once I was back on the road the smile returned to my face and the hassles of dealing with service centres soon drifted away, at least till the next service.
I called VW customer services and advised them of the less that poor service from Clarks Bilston, VWCS got in touch with an area manager at Clark’s who rang me to apologise and offered a free service as compensation !!!!!
What colour is your van ?It has taken 3 calls today and some polite threats of escalation to finally get a call back with an update... apparently a new awning is arriving on Thursday so van will be delivered back to me on Friday. I asked if it can be brought back sooner and the new awning fitted at a garage locally... or taken back to Edinurgh by Clark commercials. The reaction was as if I was being unreasonable... But I’m welcome to pick up the van any time and drop it back off for the fitting... (yes, seriously, at 3hrs each way...). Let’s just hope the 3rd awning is the right colour and mechanically sound... I’m not hopeful...
Silver...What colour is your van ?
So that´s why you want a silver oneSilver...
Thanks for the tip. How do I check that? Although I hope the company I’m getting the trailer from will also be able to do that as they sound more clued up.One thing i might add is for you to check that they have done the
constant feed to the electric socket.
I had a towbar fitted by a VW dealer and they didn´t do the constant feed.
It was a few years later when i hooked up a caravan that i realised they
hadn´t done it.
Ask the trailer guys to check it,Thanks for the tip. How do I check that? Although I hope the company I’m getting the trailer from will also be able to do that as they sound more clued up.
Download this video. 2 Bolts to undo, that’s all.So after three calls I finally got them to call me back... the awning is due for delivery Thursday so the can would be back on Friday (Day 17 of the 6hr job...)
I suggested they look into returning the van to me sooner and ask a local VW garage to swap out the malfuntioning awning they have fitted for the new one.
I did this confident that I would not be referred to Clark commercials in Dyce as having vowed never to go near them again, during the 4 month wait with Edinburgh I got desparate and called Dyce only to be told they have nothing to do with awnings.
So yes, I had a call back from Edinburgh to tsay they will deliver my van back in Wednesday and it is booked into Dyce to have the awning fitted on Friday.
I don’t knkw whether to laugh hysterically or cry. Whilst deciding I think I’ll pour myself a large wine and be thankful my dogs are more reliable than most car dealers...
Good news at last!!
With the storm due y’day I advised Clark Commercials not to drive my van up but keep it and fit the awning in Edinburgh and bring it back tomorrow.
This afternoon I was called to say awning fitted, van valeted and a nice healthy voucher was on it’s way as a way of thanks for being so patient.
I also asked if they could replenish fuel for the 130+ miles as I had done the same in the courtesy van, leaving their’s with more fuel than it had when I got it. I was advised they will fill it right up before delivery.
Then I had a call on invoice and it was £300 more than my quotes (which I had insisted in writing). Resent the quotes and invoice adjusted. They asked for payment before delivery and again I suggested I would like to inspect the van before I pay. Whilst not normal procedure they very quickly said no problem.
If the whole process has been as good as the last 6 hrs (pun intended as it was a 6hr job taking 17 days) then I would be glowing about Clark Commercials Edinburgh. Once finished there will be an email to VWCS and it will highlight potential improvements for both Clark Commercials and VW as they delivered incomplete and faulty parts several times.
Let’s hope the van is home as promised tomorrow and in perfect condition as one of the dogs has come into season earlier than expected and I might be heading to Belgium 2 mths earlier than expected for a ‘marriage’...
Amazing how they can just change the bill once questionedResent the quotes and invoice adjusted.
Interesting...Would that cupboard be in your house by any chance? The bolt was in one of the cupboards and not where I had thought. But they seem to have managed without it. Thanks for asking.
It had been in a cupboard in the van. But when I was told they needed to take bits apart for the electrics I emptied all the cupboards internally.Interesting...Would that cupboard be in your house by any chance?
