Thanks for the update Kev. Sounds like the setup costs are going to be prohibitive for the relatively small number of Cali owners that might want them. Bit of a shame as they would look quite smart with "California" on them. Might have to settle for "Transporter" unless you find a cheaper manufacturer.

There is a guy who frequents some of the Fora who makes things from stainless steel sheet such as foot rest covers and seat handle infill trims with GTi and such like laser cut into them.

He does it as a hobby, probably writing the CNC code while machine minding or something but it may well worth giving him a try - I'll see if i can track him down.

I tried earlier in the year and hit a brick wall. I will try again after Christmas and give it my undivided attention I was told that it would cost about £900 just to set the machine up
But will persevere with my search

You can have essentially what you want as they'd be custom made laser cut.

+1 interested in some kind of step cover. Only had a Cali a couple of weeks and already getting annoyed by muddy steps...
