Hi all!
My black lab puppy is now 10 months old, and the summer is just around the corner. I'm trying to find some destinations on the sea to take him to pre-season (June-ish), when it's warm enough for me to swim but before it gets really crowded. I've realized I've become very spoiled by dog-friendly Switzerland when I started looking into dog beaches in Italy and found few and far between.
I'd love to get some insider tips on where to go with the little critter!
My requirements:
- Within max ~9 hours or so drive from Zurich, Switzerland (so I can manage it in two days), ferry in addition to that would be ok.
- With a dog-friendly beach at the campsite or within ~30 minutes walk of a dog-friendly beach
Nice-to-haves:
- Some hiking options within a reasonable driving distance as well
A few places I'm thinking of:
- Lido di Jesolo in Veneto, which has some nice dog-friendly campsites with beaches and is close enough, though my friend from Veneto's mom says this is a terrible idea haha.
- Somewhere near Genoa, like Finale Ligure or Alassio though the campsite options look kind of grim.
- Krk in Croatia, seems like a good mix of dog-friendly beaches and hiking opportunities.
- My DREAM is Sardinia, since I fell in love with it pre-dog, but there's like... 6 dog beaches on the island?
- Corfu also looks amazing though it'll have to be a longer trip with the super-expensive super-long ferry ride.
I'd love feedback or ideas or any positive experiences you'd had anywhere reachable from Switzerland! Lakes we have plenty of here, with very dog-friendly conditions, so more looking at the sea.
