Hi there, I have a T4 cal and I have a rattle that we have diagnosed to the thrust bearing. So time to change the clutch.
We are struggling to find the correct Part number, can anybody help?
It’s a 1991 2.4d cal.
Thanks
Jon

Are you planning to replace the entire clutch or just the thrust bearing? It’s the same amount of effort for both jobs and very much a case of while you’re there you may as well do the full kit.

Yeah that’s the plan.
I just can’t get a part number for the kit.

Eurocarparts can usually identify the right kit from your reg number. German Swedish and French too. Where are you looking to buy from? A dealership should be able to get all the details from the reg number.

I have my mate who runs a VW specialist garage, he is doing it for me but struggling to get the right PN.
We have tried various places with the VIN but no luck. I put it down to being an important and thought someone on here may have had the day issue.

There’s nothing different about the T4 California clutch compared to a standard T4 van, caravelle or pickup. I’m surprised your ‘specialist’ mate is unable to find the right parts. Have you tried TPS, Eurocarparts (I had a look earlier and they have them) or GSF. I imagine any good Motor Factors would be able to find the right kit for you.

The only differences I can see between the available clutch kits, based on the engine numbers, are diameters and whether they have a solid flywheel or a dual-mass one. I’d try TPS with your VIN to see if you can get specifics. Some T4s are getting on now but the main parts are still readily available in general.
