t5 bi-turbo engine sounds..

After testing new t6 multivan with top engine, was pretty impressed how nice it ran.
Found some slightly used t5 fully loaded california, like 3k miles on it.
All looked nice but engine sound rather confused me. I don't have much experience with diesel, always driven petrol engines, but that one was making pretty weird rattling sounds on acceleration.
They were pretty annoying. Could have taken it as normal for diesel but same top bi-turbo 4 motion DSG t6 engine sounded pretty smooth.
