T5 California (2007) tailgate blind

Hi all,

We've just picked up our 2007 California SE and we're absolutely loving the van.

As ever, loads of questions, first off we cannot fathom out the blind on the tailgate, there is a slot in the lower section of the plastic trim that looks like it might have a roller style blind, but we cannot see it! There is a handle looking piece on the lower part and a similar one on the top (above the window) that look like they might attach together.

We're confused as to whether it is a roller blind or some from of external blind you attach (if so, we don't have it!)

Any help, advice or suggestions would be gratefully received.

It sounds like you're missing the actual blind. The lower handle looking thing normally has the end of the blind clipped onto it and you simply fold out the clip and pull the blind out of its recess and clip it onto the top handle looking part.

Apologies, I've been away for the weekend, without the van.

I've attached two photis, im assuming the blind is there but the handle may have broken off! Can anyone sgare a photo of what it should look like please?

Yes, I think you're supposed to have a metal piece going full width on the edge of the blind (photo borrowed from a sale ad!)

That's the clip to hold the Tailgate blind down when stored
Part 14.
The Blind handle would be clipped in that clip and you pull handle out and up to top of window where it clips into a hook type clip, Part 13.

Many thanks for your replies and very helpful information.

I'm assuming the blind has broken off, I will take the cover off and investigate at some point. In the meantime I will get a removable type blind, has anyone used one that they can recommend please?
