Hi, I’ve been reading the manual and looking on the forum. My T6.1 3 seater bench seat will no fold back to make a bed. It tips back to a reclining position and then stops (with the handle stuck out which it does not do when in correct positions).
I can get it to fold forwards to be flat.
It is also moving forward and back on the rails as it should.
Any hints, tips or advice?

I don't have a beach and I don't know if it is the same as the T6 but does this help? It looks like you have to pull up the base of the seat cushion to let it fold the last bit.

Thanks that could be the missing bit. The manual has some silly errors in it and also does not seem to mention this.

There’s a knack to it. This sometimes needs a shove. Push on the back rest and pull up on the handle (make sure you pull the folding handle not the sliding one). The seat base kind of comes up and towards you. All of a sudden it’s a bed. My wife struggles sometimes. Needs a bit of force. Ours does anyway!

Will give it a try. Not so easy when you’re not so tall...
fortunately not planning on using it as a bed. But need to know it works before signing off on the van.
Thanks for the tip.

Have you removed the headrests ? (check they are not hitting the multiflex)

easiets to do it from the living space whilst facing the rear.

pull seat forward to required position ( lever 1) strap under middle draw, pull lever two (just below the seat pad / above the middle draw) fully out, then push the back of the seat backwards and give it a shove to lie it flat (the base is on a cam so it will move forward as the back drops the final bit

Hello, yes, I said I’d followed the manual. Headrests off. But they won’t make any difference if the bed does not go flat...
I’ve been out and now got the bed to lift slightly whilst trying to push it flat. Still bo give.

Is the red marker visible on the reclining lever ( if not pull it out further )

Believe me I yanked it hard.
It’s clearly visible in the pic

Page 19 from T6 manual,

edit : does your seat fold all the way forward ?

If you've gotten the seat as far down as the second photo, there may be some object caught in the mechanism, maybe the center seat belt as seen in the first photo. The middle seat belt should be as free at the bottom as the other two are in the first photo. There are some flaps which are supposed to stop the seat belt from getting jammed in the mechanism, but I found out the hard way that they are attached with cheap plastic clips which pop off at the slightest pressure.

I did try and make sure they were all free. Can try again later in the day (you’re up late?)

In daylight ai can see that something is catching - and now ripped.
(The seat belts are not affecting the movement).
Looks like a dealer issue.

We used to have problems with our T6 bench. Eventually we destroyed the middle seat belt clip. Since then I’ve had to check the clip every time I lower the bench.

There are also some plastic clips which hold the covers onto the seat. These can come away and get caught in the mechanism.

You can get quite a good view of the underneath of the bench by lifting up the seat base. You can secure it up by jamming in a headrest.

I don’t need to secure mine up. It stays up and won’t go flat, so I can get a good look underneath.
But that’s a good tip for when I get a bench seat that works :thumb

Can you get it back into the normal seat position or is it stuck
halfway?

Good question. I can get it back up, fold forward, but not further back then in the earlier photo’s. So, I may have mislead folk saying it was ‘stuck’. It just won’t go any further down backwards.
I have a friend popping round tomorrow to assist with the detachable towbar, and roof operation - so we can have two sets of eyes.
And we will look at the bench seat as well.

Are you pulling the base up a bit after pulling the lever forward?

That video above looks very straightforward, base of the seat up,
push the back a bit , then push it all the way,
but grumpy grandads Ocean
was delivered with a dodgy seat ( who can forget :) ).

Initially I wasn’t - as not in the manual - and then after the video shared above I was lifting the front - it seemed to go a bit further then stuck... in a shallow V shape.
then I looked underneath in daylight and saw the ripped fabric and foam and thought, £60k van, brand new, not fit for purpose, maybe the dealer should sort this out...

I think it’s a dealer issue. Probably a whole replacement bench seat.

Yup. I’ve already suggested that’s what I need. You can’t have ripped seat covering and foam showing underneath.
I have no plans to use lower bed (as the dog crates maybe won’t allow for it), but need to check things off the list for potential resale. It’s just so sad on a brand new vehicle...
Thanks for the support.

Not good at all, just extra hassle and time wasted.
My 14 days rejection time has been taken up with little sleep with a dog with cancer in mammary glands. So I’m very much behind on checking things. I don’t expect to need to reject the vehicle, but want to make sure everything I ordered works. Complicated slightly as there was no public configurator working when I ordered... so as things are added with options you select... I’m discovering things I didn’t know I had... and wondering if anything has been left out or is not working...
