T6 TO T6.1

I'm just wondering who has sold their T6 and moved onto a T6.1 and what their experiences were comparing the two. In my case for the same specification, it's around £35k extra , I'm wondering what differences there will be . Personally I have to change to a LHD now but 110k euro is a lot of money ...makes one wonder at least

I suggest you follow California Time on you tube. They have changed from a T6 Ocean to a T6.1 Ocean so exactly what you're looking for.

The question you need to ask yourself is, what are you getting for that 35k outlay. What’s it’s value to you…?
Personally, I only change vehicles if there’s a worthy change upgrade to the vehicle.

Each new van for me was a big step up from its predecessor, so in my eyes worth the extra outlay…

Ocean to an ID Buzz is a big change. Not camping any more? I would have waited for an ID Buzz but I’m disappointed with the initial specification, particularly the fixed seats and shorter length.

I'm still waiting for a significant step change from my T5.1.
So far it boils down to ,
1. EURO 6 Emissions. Of no real benefit at present.
2. New Control Panel. Nice but software not matured as yet.
3. New canvas material. Of no benefit at present.
4. In Car Media/SatNav, not mature as present.

To be honest.
The California is staying. The buzz is to replace our little Porsche, which sees little use. Since we had a child it rarely gets used. After 8/9 years of ownership it’s time to move on. I will be sad to see it go, really love the car, but it’s a waste having it sitting around.

Nothing has tempted me so far from the EV stable, apart from the Honda E but not enough range on that. The Buzz, agree some parts disappointing but overall it suits our lifestyle.
I just love vans, no idea why people have cars and in particular useless oversized SUV’s

Will the Buzz be an alternative to the Ocean ?

California Rainmaker went through this whole dilemma too a few years ago. They decided the differences ultimately didn't make financial sense. Clearly RHD to LHD is a significant consideration and will probably trump everything else. I know I wouldn't want a RHD living in the EU.

Curious who is quoting 110K Euro? Even a loaded Ocean in Germany is below 6 figures today. They are MUCH cheaper than that if you shop around and don't mind waiting.

In car sat nav / media works perfectly if on latest software
Digital dashboard superb - especially integration of sat nav
The rear bed shelf that now reclines
Far better doors on the wardrobes
ACC as standard
Rear camera as standard
LED headlamps as standard.

Going from our T5.1 to T6.1 also included:
In cupboard lights - especially useful in the wardrobe
Extra reading lights in the roof & rear
Courtesy lights in the rear when opening the sliding door
footwell lighting
cup holders that didn't rattle
Split glass top on sink
Panoramic opening to roof
Far better fuel consumption despite going for the higher output engine

Robin, it is simple. You need a Westfalia Joker. Now forget everything else and just go for it

That's a very interesting list...although I've got much of the important options on my T6, plus more, like anti roll bars , heated front screen etc...

2 yrs ago, when buying I had to chose between a pre-reg late T6 and a new in showroom T6.1
The latter was missing the rear shower, so went for the former which also had the panoramic roof opening and the lights package. I then had to tint the windows from a 3rd party company and that worked great. Only thing I really miss is the ACC.

I am very happy to have saved £20k at the time, which is the equivalent of the cost of my nearly new my MX5 which is my other motoring passion.

Yes, the rear shower is a great option , I've used it and wouldn't be without. I've also got the lights package on.my T6
Totally love the MX5 , it's the best road holding car I ever had and wish I'd never sold mine loads of fun for not much money, no brainer I think k if one was offered a T6 and MX5 or a T6.1 , great choice

2. A place to work/process your pics etc., once you have taken those awesome shots.
3. More place for the wife and dog to rest - you then don't have to sleep all night seated
4. With the LWB California footprint, you will be able to still reach all those challenging places you drive to.

OK, they are some good points...Hugo.loves the rear shelf for his bedroom, not sure if the Joker can offer that ? I'll.look.

We were doing well until most of the area around us burnt down ...we were evacuated in time so at no time unsafe , but it's been an ordeal and very shocking on return to see what is now a WW1 war zone look

Retail must be a lot higher in France then cos a 204 4Mo DSG Ocean with all the Bells and Whistles came in at under 100K in Germany

There is a chap on the T6 forums that will add ACC if you have the front sensor I believe you need to swap the buttons on the steering wheel then the rest is coding he was talking about £350 if my memory is correct
