Observation: Standard bike rack that many people have attached to the tailgate without major adverse effects can carry around 60kg.

Thanks everyone. Stopped by an installer the other day with the rear spare on tailgate with different struts. After testing it "live", we found the opening/closing is ok, but decided we'd prefer not hanging on the back and work with the tire underneath, probably 225/65 r17.
