To coast or not to coast ? What is this for ?

I was playing with settings and noticed the coasting option, is there any preference for this option as now I have found it it's bugging me which to use. Tried both ways and can see what it does (keeps in gear or not) but can't see when you would need this option. Any opinions ?

Supposed to improve fuel consumption, but that is debatable.

Well, nearly here ... search for that thread. Im obviously not geeky enough to make the link work and that new bloke, "VW forum admin" is nowhere to be found when wanted.

don't lose sleep over it. I've not noticed the difference and granny is very fuel conscious ... especially when she finds herself refilling from a green pump
