Under engine protection.

I have a 2013 California Beach. Were they originally fitted with an under engine protection tray?

Mine has a plastic tray under the front covering the engine but wouldn’t class it as protection as such, more cosmetic

Thanks, It is the plastic one I am talking about. I think it helps keep the water/salt out. The dealer said they don't have one, but the fixings are there.

Hi, yes would have come as standard. (Even our T4 had one)

Low end transporters will most probably not have them, higher end will.
I.E. Transporter mostly not, Caravelle, Multivan, California should normally have one.

I don't know about the UK, but as they use a more low end version of the Transporter (Transporter dashboard), it might be possible they didn't fit it from factory, but I would doubt it.
You could check the bolt holes. If the thread is rusty, then there should have been a cover, if the threads are ok'ish (age of van?), then there has never been one on.
