we bought a 5 yr old Cali 4 weeks ago and this weekend on our second outing we flattened the battery. This due to putting roof up and down too much draining battery. AA came to save us but on way home at each junction the van beeped about 10 times. Can anyone throw any light onto why this gappened. Thankyou xx

Was there no corresponding warning icon in the instrument display?

No, initially we were leaving field so we thought sensors were warning us of long grass undulations etc and it did show the sensor image on screen. At all junctions on hours journey home there was nothing on dcreen

is the speed warning on a low mph setting?

Check the roof is down properly? Lift a few inches and close it again ....

Reactions: Sad
If the batteries were drained putting the roof up and down, is the roof fully closed?

Roof possibly the main culprit.

Also look around the proximity sensors and see if you have any grass or dirt stuck to them. I drove half way down a motorway on a cold day this winter with things beeping every ten seconds and the proximity screen flashing on and off and it turned out to be a flake of ice bobbing around.

I don’t think the Starter Battery was flattened by raising and lowering the Roof too much as it is the Leisure Batteries that Power the Roof Hydraulic Pump.
You have to have the Ignition ON when using the roof as a Safety/Security feature so that you cannot accidentally operate the roof.

Do you have a Full Electric Side Door. Often a culprit as it works off Engine Battery.

Did you keep pressing the Radio On. It goes off after 20 minutes , or so, for a reason. It can easily flatten the Engine Battery.

Whatever the cause was for flattening the Engine Battery it wasn’t the Roof, unless you left the ignition On after using the roof.

Have you got your seat belt on? As it beeps then

So what have we not mentiont :
Low outside themp. gives a beep
Low fuel/diesel gives a beep
Could be something heavy (a bag or box) sitting on the passenger seat when gooing in a turn giving pressure on the seatbase ,seatbeltwarning gives a beep thinking someone is sitting there without seatbelt on.
It's not your celphone reciving a textmessage ...?
