Vango Cruz II - Using Webbing Straps?

Hey guys,

Does anyone with a Cali (Beach preferably but I suspect the answer is the same on all models) have a Vango Cruz II and not use the Kador strip to attach it, but use the over-vehicle webbing straps?

We do not have a C-rail (we have no cassette and only the default side rails - see picture). I'm wondering if we can use the default webbing straps - but we'd have to pass them either side of the elevating roof. Would this work? Would they fit?

I could get the brand new Cruz II out of the bag to test but (a) that is awkward on my drive and (b) if this isn't going to work and we have to take the awning back I'd rather not have taken it out if I can avoid it.

I would not have called mine easy to get in, have since read a tip somewhere on here to make it easier, but I forget what that was...
