Vertical Surfboard Rack

The sika flex @Webbah_in_Switzerland mentioned is interesting. It would save me the effort of having to remove internal cupboards and trim.

Not only surfboards, SUPs and snowboards but I also hang an EcoFlow solar panel sometimes using 4 carabiners. That weighs close to 14Kg for the 400 watt panel. No issues with the Sika.

For the hymer. Would silkaflex roof channels to the roof + or use wellnuts if you can position outside of the roof canvas.

Then fit a slide down rack from @Johnboy

The problem having surfboards on the roof, is access. The Sprinter is a tall vehicle.
Plus, I love the look on the side of the van. It’s classic surf mobile. Westy’s look fantastic with a side mounted surfboard rack.

I did ask Chat GPT about Sika.
My only concern is hot temperatures and the effect it may have on the bonding.

@Ch1pbutty the well nuts are probably a good shout.

I had similar concerns. I consulted and had the guys at TravelTech mount mine and they assured me there would be no issue. There are many different types of Sika available. I'm not sure which one they used on mine. These guys build many Expedition vehicles and know their stuff. Matthias speaks English if you want to write him an email or give him a call:

Thank you for the information.
Amazing :thumb

It would save me a lot of hassle, if I didn’t need to drill.

Interested if anyone has found a solution for the Grand California and surfboards attached outside? Could use the bike rack but sometimes we bring the bikes as well.

I was looking for images of surf boards mounted on a Club Joker as I'm considering purchasing one soon. Your setup is just SWEET! I think I'll take inspiration from your van if I do purchase one.

I have resisted buying one in the past as I thought that it would make more sense to pass on to a short Ducato van when moving on from my California Beach. But seeing the images of your van changes my mind! How has your experience been with this vehicle? Pros / Cons? Thanks! JJ

I installed airline rails on my van and added 2 smaller airlines between them that I can move around. In winter I use Thule snowboard racks and in winter surfboard mounts for surfboards or paddle board. Unfortunately I don’t have photos with a board. Will keep that in mind next time!
