Yes you're right, just typed it into Google and Wiki article came up spelt like that. Except it has a squiggle over the 'y' (umlaut ?):Nope, definitely a trend in the press for LLYN over LLEYN - will try and dig an example out.... Suspect the English press leave off the "to bach" so they end up with Llyn. V. small mystery solved...
a circumflex I think (usually "to bach" or "little roof" in Welsh if I remember what my O level teacher taught me). The umlaut is a vowel with the two dots sitting on top in German (like a drunken colon).Yes you're right, just typed it into Google and Wiki article came up spelt like that. Llŷn
Wasn't quite ready to turn back so headed in the direction of Kylesku. Rugged landscape - stunning! This looks a bit like a giant's head coming up through the ground.

Think the first photo of our Cali was in the shadow of the Cullen viaduct. Nice location along the Moray Coast.Cullen (where the soup Cullen Skink originates)

Then on to Fochabers bicentennial park. Quick stop for a cheeky bacon baguette...

Agree Norm. It's a lovely little place. In fact, all that stretch of coast is just fantastic.Think the first photo of our Cali was in the shadow of the Cullen viaduct. Nice location along the Moray Coast.
Nice pics Motacyclist. We were on the Llyen a few weeks back. Great place, and when the weathers fine, nigh on perfect!Yes you're right, just typed it into Google and Wiki article came up spelt like that. Except it has a squiggle over the 'y' (umlaut ?):

What lovely photos...
Slightly off topic but when on earth did they start calling the Lleyn Peninsula the "Llyn " Peninsula????

Several people have pointed out correctly that Llŷn (the peninsula in NW Wales) has a circumflex while the quite different word Llyn (lake) doesn't. Although Llŷn is often transliterated as Lleyn.
From my hazy memory of learning Welsh as a youngster, they are also pronounced quite differently.:
Llŷn/Lleyn : "thleen" in South Welsh accent, more like "thlin" in the more 'clipped' North Welsh. Never "thlayn".
Llyn : "thlin".
(Here I've used "thl" as a loutish Saesneg approximation of the the double-L pronunciation which can only be done with a mouthful of soggy bara brith).

is that a 2004 model ?Had to wait in Täsch for the train to Zermatt and loved it to have a cosy Cali although I was parked in a carpark.
