Les Roches-l'Évêque, but keep it to yourself ............. dammit! Our favourite stopovers have almost always been found by chance; we've been on our way somewhere more distant and, having had enough of driving, we've started looking. Many villages and towns have aires, usually signposted. We found this one with a simple internet search after we arrived at a better advertised one which we didn't fancy when we got there, about ten miles away. It helps to have a route that keeps you off the motorways if possible, which itself suggests that you have time for a leisurely amble through France in your 'van, either en route to somewhere else, or just generally touring with no hard and fast destinations or time frames in mind. If time is more pressing, work out where you hope to be by late afternoon and plan in advance. "airecampingcar.com" is one of a number of net based sites to visit, and a number of printed guides are available. Oh, and don't be snooty ........ some aires on main roads can be free and well serviced. This unenhanced pic was taken from overnight services on the A75, south of St Flour. It was late July, the facilities were spotless and, despite spaces for fifty or so vehicles, we only had a couple of neighbours. Hope this helps

Hi, that’s great, thank you. I have put it into our planned route and found it on Search for Sites so very much a possibility. On the not being Snooty front, we have had far more success and enjoyment so far on bargain basement CL’s and pub stops than fully serviced ‘posher’ sites - only needed a tractor to pull us out of a farmers field once…. We are doing the coast so St Flour off our route a bit, but we will look at the website you suggested. Thanks again.
