Hi All,

Quick post to offer details of a fantastic company that can provide replacement VW locking wheel nut keys. I have just had a nightmare with my Cali after mislaying the original wheel nut adapter. I was recommended by a friend of mine to 'Locking Wheel Nut Keys' who replaced my wheel nut adapter with an original! Something my local VW dealer couldn't do. They actually wanted £180 to remove and replace the set.

Thanks for the info. Glad you got a replacement but how bizarre VW would not supply. That’s really poor. Recently when I had some work done at my local VW transporter specialist I was surprised when on offering to get the key out they said no need as they have one. I watched them take all my wheels off so the “keys” must all be the same!?!?!

Hi Skewif,

Yes, as bizarre as it sounds VW apparently stopped selling replacement wheel nut keys/adapters many years ago! I called 3 local dealers who all confirmed they no longer supply. There isn't just one wheel nut key available so your specialist must have either had a master set or were very lucky in having the same one available. As a security item there has to be many different locking nuts available otherwise why bother putiing them on the wheels in the first place.

In my case I didn't have the wheel nut code however, with this company its not required. You simply supply them www.LWNK.co.uk with a clear image of the locking nut on the wheel and of course proof that you are the owner of the vehicle. They identify the original VW locking wheel nut adapter from that and supply you with an original VW wheel nut key! Hey presto. They don't just supply VW either, from what I can see on their shop page they pretty much supply all other vehicle manufacturers wheel nut keys also. So a good website to bookmark for future use.

Having had a garage loose a wheel nut key in the past that’s very handy to know. Thanks for posting. :thumb
