it is 1 in a million chance. You have to travel first to a country where there is an attendant that refuels for you IF you let them do that. Italy is a good example. Even then you would have to refuel during normal business hours, 8-12 and 14-18. Outside business hours you have to refuel yourself and pay with credit card or cash at the automated machine as there's nobody there. During business hours you can still choose to park next to a "Self Service" pump and do it yourself. And in any case you can tell them you want to do it yourself.
And even if don't succeed in the above, you'd have to find somebody stupid enough not to be able to read "Diesel" on your fuel cap. That also doesn't excuse you not to check what he's doing.

This doesn't count as a car I owned, but I travelled in it quite a lot when at university. One of the lecturers, a Scotsman, christian name Willie, owned a 1934 Rolls-Royce that he had found being used as a tow truck. It was pillar box red and had been fitted with a Perkins diesel engine. Rolls Royce didn't want to know when he contacted them. Whenever we went on field trips, a select few would travel with him, waving regally from the rear seat. On one occasion when stopping for fuel, the attendant (remember those days?) refused to fill it up with diesel, asking if he was on Candid Camera. Willie was incensed. "Look here laddie, I'm a member of the Perkins diesel drivers club" proffering the four ring badge in his lapel as proof. It certainly was a head turner.
Willie emigrated to New Zealand and the Roller went with him and is still going strong to this day as far as I know.

But isn't that something that could be said about any Insurance product. I've paid House Insurance for 50+ years and never claimed. With the Fuel Angel a one off payment of £50 versus a possible bill of £5000. Better value in my opinion.

I presume you only have 3rd Party insurance, as you’re such a good driver you’ll never cause or be in an accident. It must be wonderful to be so perfect in life.

where did you get this stats ? how many were rentals ?
Anyway, I believe it to be a very remote chance, and one that can be completely ruled out by filling up yourself. Unless of course you randomly pick the wrong nozzle but honestly...
The only time it happen to me to pick up the wrong pump it was with a rented car in New York. I knew it was a petrol car so of course I picked up the green pump. It wouldn't fit. Then a guy told me that it doesn't fit because the car is not diesel. Eh ? I should get the Petrol pump which in the US is... the black one!
I drive a LHD, so the fuel cap is right next to my (driving) door which needs to be opened to access the cap. I guess with RHD you might have an attendant opening the passenger door and start refilling before you get out and go to the other side. So you guys may actually have a point.

Ive not fitted mine yet either, it certainly feels a lot tighter for space even without the Isotop than my T5.1 did with an isotop fitted.
The instructions do say to remove the front panel before shutting the roof, I think this might be a necessity rather than just a recomendation.

If you leave the front panel in you can close the roof but it's then a pain to close the shutter because of all the material. Didn't realise they recommended removing it but have always done it for ease. I usually just spread the front section evenly over the top bed before lowering the roof, easy peasy.

Yes that does defeat the point somewhat as I also thought you could leave it on & close down roof etc. please let us know what you think as its an expensive piece of kit & might be just as well to get a rainbow cover

A rainbow is definitely more faff than fixing the front panel everytime. What I do I unzip the sidesand just leave it attache with the velcro at the bottom. The zip on the sides create too much volume and the roof won't close properly.
If you just leave it with the velcro attached, you just need to zip it up once the roof is elevated. It's ok-ish but of course it would have been better without this additional workaround.

Yes agree the faff of putting the rainbow cover up possibly alone does put me off but the Brandrup is expensive & need to verify the material bulk & closing the roof - thanks that makes sense re the process

Yes it comes apart easily, into 6 pieces of stainless steel. Pretty heavy but feels functional.

I love it, definitely makes it warmer and more cosy up top in winter and helps keep the heat down in summer. When your are on your own all you have to do is fit the front panel from the inside so much easier than fitting an outside wrap. Also when it's raining you don't get wet fitting it and if it has rained you don't have something wet to store inside the van when you want to move off.
