What have you bought for your Cali today :-)

So you went to Bognor motors but you don’t say what they did or what the issue they fixed was?

Ah! apologies, installed the TVS drivability software for the DSG gearbox.

Where the gearbox was lazy to start off from first, a bit lumpy into reverse and droning in 7th at 1100 rpm, now it behaves more correctly with more accurate starts, more control in reverse and changing up a gear only when needed ... where the sweet spot seems to be about 1200 to 1300 rpm.

Bought one and was delivered yesterday. Seems really good, just a pity no pockets. I look forward to getting weird stares as I walk through the campsites
Ordered one for my wife, she always have difficulties changing clothes on the beach.

Can you elaborate more in this? Is this something from VW? An unused driver of ours is sometimes impatient from start and presses the accelerator a bit too much which results in an unnecessary hard acceleration after the first gear stops slipping the clutch.

Not VW, aftermarket, see attached.

Has anyone else had the TVS gearbox software installed?

Maybe a daft question @kurienp , but if your van goes into VW for routine servicing/maintenance could they/would they overwrite the TVS gearbox software meaning a repeat visit to Bognor Motors?

That is an important consideration @GrumpyGranddad .

For me, so far,
1. with Breeze Poole managing my servicing, I am glad that I have a good service centre that is relatively nearby
2. They do listen to and act correctly when requested not to perform any updates/specific updates.
3. In case, inadvertently they do update, yes, it is a visit back to Bognor Motors and Bognor Motors will update the software, only charging for the time it takes to update and not for the full software package.

The TVS Driveability upgrade affects the ECU (reprogramming) to allow the gearbox to change gears or hold gear at different timing / parameters

The upgrade would not immediately become evident when VW plugged the van in to the mother ship. It would have to be actively search for. in the theory this could happen if a gearbox failed within warranty, although these appear to be a rare occurrence .

The upgrade can be overwritten But you will loose the upgrade. As you would do if the ECU was flashed back to factory settings.
Edit see @kurienp post above

See the T6 forum for others who have had this upgrade carried out.

@Loz had this carried out some time ago, as others have, search posts from loz and others “Bognor motors” or “TVS” should bring up the string of posts (similarly in the T6 forum)

Just ordered 2 flyscreens from Jerba for the Ocean 6.1 sliding windows - keep those pesky pests at bay!
Wish I had them yesterday for the flying ant swarms in Exmouth!

Garmin mini cam for that extra bit of security while driving.

Excellent! Who cares what people think! No more mucking about. In and out… I love the convenience.

I purchased a DryRobe for the showers in the morning. I got so sick of carrying all my clothes over that now I just look like a complete dork wearing this there and back. And I do not care.

Also bought a bag for the Thetford Porta Potti. It's made life easier. Along with some Really Useful Boxes for the boot.
My son and I have versions around this theme... I think they are incredibly practical!

My wife, on the other hand, flat refuses to use one or even walk to the shower block within 15 feet of us haha!

Your wife walks to the shower block naked!? :D

To replace our small hob and BBQ, with added pizza option! Looking forward to trying this before our first long trip in a few weeks.

Tried this out yesterday, six pizzas, all delicious! Much better than I hoped, only think that's missing is the toppings browning slightly, but I wasn't expecting that without a direct heat source. V happy!

@dripster Maybe get a small kitchen blowtorch for browning?

What about covering the pizza top with some non-stick foil and then inverting it onto the pizza stone for a couple of minutes. Just a thought.

I wouldn't bother to be honest, chance of making a mess too great and they were delicious anyway but thanks for the suggestion.

Not bought but made some useful hooks for the awning from left over kadar strip.
Magnetic mosquito/midge nets in progress - not finished yet but fitting well.

Very good screen. I assume you made the edge with magnets sewn in. Were the magnets easy to buy and where? I was thinking about making something similar for the rear side window. Thanks for sharing a good idea.
