What have you bought for your Cali today :-)

I placed some blackout foil on the small window behind the slide with compartments (t6.1).
The windows are normally tinted (option sound-insulating glass with tinted windows) but when the drawer with trays is closed, you could see from the outside that it is a very pale colour and this rather bothered me. Now it is much more evenly darker.56D6CE81-32CD-46E5-84D8-06B5437118AE.jpeg
Cost: a spray can of black paint because I was planning to remove the sliding part and spay the back of it. Removing that part did not go smoothly, so a leftover foil that I had saved the day :D

Fittted some short mudflaps that I got from Amazon today. (XUKEY Set Mud Flaps For Transporter Caravelle T6 Multivan Kombi 2015 on Mudflaps Splash Guards Flap Mudguards Front Rear)
These were very easy to install although like many others, I trimmed about 8mm from the one edge that would have otherwise made contact with the bottom of the front door. The front flaps use one of the arch liner screws to hold them in place and there there are two optional self tapping screws that also go into the arch liner. I was surprised at how much dirt there was between the arch liner and the bodywork. At the back the flap simply uses the two arch liner screws.
One tool that I have found extremely useful for these sorts of jobs is a Ryobi rechargeable screwdriver - in particular on this occasion the right angle adaptor.

The muck on the ground all came from behind the wheel arch liner

Right angle driver makes the job much easier

Ryobi cordless screwdriver highly recommended.
Total job time: 20 mins
I bought them too, triggered by your post ;) They are very easy to install. I'll trimmed the infamous edges like you did so the door doesn't scrape on the plastic (because indeed it does, I tried it out first, see yellow circle).
Oh, and they're so cheap.

3 room pop up shower tent just arrived from joolca. Looking forward to using it. We also have the joolca hot water boiler. This tent goes up single handedly in 60 seconds, pegged down in another minute or 2. Same to pack away.

Now we can put the toilet in one room, the shower in another and also have somewhere to change/wash hands/dry clothes/store stuff if it is raining.

Having cleaned the van inside today to get ready for the new season, I decided to make some changes, hence I have ordered:

Rear seat USB charge points - using the hidden 12v alongside the rear Cali seats and this right angle cable adapter (the only right angle one I could find), it provides 4 sockets and a readout to tell you battery voltage. Tight fit but this one looks like it will do the job. https://amzn.to/3Z51sTU this will be way tidier than my current solution shown in the pic.

USB rechargeable decent vacuum - A Scotland trip soon with two dogs and a wife means I decided to get a van vac. After research, this looks perfect.. wine bottle size and great reviews... https://amzn.to/3Z15Gvt

I also removed the Cali chairs and replaced them with these much more compact and much more comfortable versions (https://amzn.to/3KMBxu0 and https://amzn.to/3CWtUzc - avoid cheaper copies). This means that the tailgate storage is now spare - on one side I have put my windshield cover and side door mosquito net. On the other I can perfectly fit both my pop up toilet tent (https://amzn.to/3QyBB31 - which does not need pegging as I shove it under the tailgate, meaning that the shower also reaches) AND my collapsible toilet. (https://amzn.to/3wYzK06) .

With 200w of solar from the excellent www.solarcampersolutions.co.uk I am ready for the end of the world (hmm, must order a zombie club).

Everything will be reviewed on our channel in the coming months. Interior styling almost finished finally..

I’m thinking we are like the Yanks, prepers.
I like to keep everything in the California ready to go at the drop of a hat (or nuclear discharge ;):))
Need to look for a gun of some sort to enter the brain of zombie as that’s the only way to kill ‘em.
With a zombie club you need to pummel the skull to get to the brain. So need an AR15 really.
How does one go about getting an AR15 in the UK ?

I think they are Inka covers,, I bought them off Ebay, they were used, washed them in the washing machine, let them dry and put them on,, would have bought them new but saw them on ebay and thought take a chance on them, they are just for our 2 beagles romping over after all

Correct they are Inca covers. Have the same in our van. Not the prettiest but certainly protect the seats well.

Love your leather seats buddy.

those drove me mad and were far too slippy for me, so I put better covers on the front and for the rear I got one of these which is far better for the dogs, easily washable, and very versatile... also stops dogs scratching my kitchen unit and table due to the side flaps. dirt cheap https://amzn.to/3Nt3S9P and we combined with these safety leads https://amzn.to/3dAxCnw (use with a harness not the dog collar) which are also easily unclipped to use as a lead in an emergency.

Front covers were (from here but they only fit the front seats £165 for option 1+1 front. https://www.veedubtransporters.co.uk/product-category/seat-covers ) - now replaced with awesome covers from seatskinz.co.uk (see pic earlier up thread). The veedub covers can be seen in a video last year here -

Good luck with the dogs in the van... we have two cocker spaniels, so also cover the floor carpet during the bad winter wet muddy months...

Sold my Ecoflow River Pro back in the Spring when my original Coast order was f'ed up by VW. Now I have my van I picked up the latest tech EcoFlow DELTA 2 with LiFePO4 batteries. This will pair with a 100W Xtar folding solar panel for extended off-grid living. Also doubles as a portable way to keep my leisure batteries fully charged when the Cali is stored in the garage. delta.jpg

Also picked up the raised fridge plate, buttons for the electronic hob ignitor (very nice quality and low profile), 3M Scotchgard to give the seats a little more protection, Thule Sunblocker G2.

Next trip will be to Ikea to pickup some containers for the cabinets, fitted sheets for the mattresses, pillows and some storage containers to organise the fridge.

That ecoflow looks to be a nice piece of equipment :thumb For the seats: tried it with such tape but was scraped through quickly. Hope you have more luck with that.

And do you get much rubber smll from them?

Thank you

Standard heavy duty rubber mats from VW. Got them in my Coast and there is a slight odour but not unexpected given the Cali is new. The practicality outweighs any small downside.

I hardly notice the smell of the standard genuine VW 3 piece mat set. But the diamond pattern sets available from CampervanBits and elsewhere have a really strong sweet rubber smell which I did not like at all (others might). They also have unfinished cut edges which are quite neat but rudimentary in appearance.
