What have you bought for your Cali today :-)

Different site but I have seen a suggestion on how to store smaller items on a shelf whilst in transit and this might be of use to you, just scroll down the page and it shows pictures of small boxes stuck down with velcro dots:
These have been great for my vase of flowers......found on an American’s vanlifer’s blog!

Following a nervous day away from our Cali last weekend when the wind speed increased making me apprehensive about what I would find when we got back from our walk having left the sun awning out, I bought some of these of ebay. (Not cheap!!).
Two adaptor plates plus assorted pegs.

Don't be too assured that your awning won't get damaged in high winds by pegging it down with screw pegs, Jabberwocky. The legs may stay put but if a very high wind gust whips up under the fabric at best it may get stretched, at worst ripped out.
If it's going to play on your mind, wind it in and save yourself the stress.

Agree, but a little more peace of mind is always a good thing in my view, especially when ordinarily I would wind the awning in if the alternative was leaving it out in blustery/increasing wind conditions. I just forgot on this occasion so I hope I am protected against future lapses! (Well at least some of them!)

Anyone with the Inka waterproof seat covers will sympathise

Just got 3 cans of Scotchgard waterproofing spray (rip off at £20, but hey, I'm blowing £66k on a van). Going to see how well these protect the seats. I'm extremely clumsy and messy, and my dog is even worse, so it won't tale too long to find out if they work. To be properly scientific in approach I would need to leave an area untreated for comparison, but that's going too far.

It’s a great thread this to see what peeps get. I’ve got an Autoglym Lifeshine kit in the garage on standby. The fabric conditioning repels water.

Fancy one of them, great to have both ends open. Unfortunately they are like hens teeth..... plus I haven’t got the van yet to see if I really need one.

Very easy to erect, but a pain in the backside to get back in what seemed like a very generously sized bag! Any tips from ‘air’ awning owners?!
Maybe get a pump that can suck as well as blow and get as much air out as you can. I don't know what air tent/awning valves are like but I bought a little Tomight pump (recommended in a forum thread) that charges by USB. Maybe that could work.

Make sure the valves are locked in the open position before rolling it. Tramp along the tubes towards the valve. Fold along the line of the tubes, to the right width. Small people to roll along it to expell the air. Then roll up tightly. Often worth unrolling and re-rolling before attempting the final bag fight.
I haven’t found that using the pump to suck out the air works any better than this and you still have to do all of the above to get the air out from the pockets trapped in the fabric anyway.

Do Brandup sell small people? Ours aren’t allowed to come camping yet (their mum thinks they’re too small)!

It's not here yet but today I bought a porta potti plus chemicals etc
tie down
levelling blocks
a VW70 number plate
and a hook up cable

Still trying to decide which route to take on screen cover and bellows insulation (leaning towards Rainbow for both)

other than that I'm doing my level best to sit on my hands until we're in it

Branderup ISOTOP. Applied the tape today at 10 deg C ... but a sunny morning. Branderup/3M advice at least 18. Increased the temp with a heat gun. Now 48 hours before I try and fix the ISOTop. May leave it on longer. In no hurry as we are still quarantining. Another 6 days to go. Then it is off to Looe.

Branderup Instructions are ... absymal is a very mild word. :headbang

Highly recommend Rainbow Screens, excellent quality.

Can’t beat an Isla bike. Recently bought my daughter the MTB version. None of the big brands come close for kids / teenagers.

And like a California they hold their value. We have now sold three, and have received at least 2/3 of their purchase price for each - after two years of heavy use and abuse!
