Wheel bolt confusion

Hi, I've just had an issue when putting 1994 steels on my 2003 westy.

The T4 bolts I got were too long and therefore didn't tighten the wheel fully onto the hub. I ended up getting them cut down so they tightened fully, but would like to have bolts that fitted properly. All research says that the bolts for 1994 & 2003 were exactly the same therefore anything I would order were all 34mm length.

Any ideas please.

Are your 2003 wheels also steel?

Wheels are 1994 square hole type

I meant, what type of wheel was used with your original bolts ie, are the bolts you're trying to use meant for use with alloys perhaps ?

Ok. Not sure as I got ten off someone else who said they were off a t4.

However 34mm long which is what is the recommended for 1994 or 2003 steels according to VW

Does the head part of the bolt, the countersink profile, match the hole in the wheel?
Alloy wheel bolts are often different to steel.

I have alloys on my T4 and I use different bolts to the originals for the steels.

Yes it matches, they are the recommended 34mm

Well just make sure the bolts are long enough.

You need 1.5 x thread diameter of engagement in the hub.
Wheel bolts are M12 so thats 18mm of thread min you need in the hub.
