I am looking at purchasing a steering lock for my cali which is the best fit the stoplock pro or pro elite?

TIA

Stoplock Pro Elite on mine, had it on my BMW and transferred it to the van. Good fit, no issues.

I’ve been looking recently and came across this, it claims to be the best out there but comes at a price. Not due out until May on pre order

Thanks for the quick reply - I need to see if this will fit my other car
Just don't keep the Stoplock key with the California ignition key. You can't drive away a California without the ignition key.

Just bought two Milenco steering wheel locks from Amazon. Short one for our Golf, and an extra long one for the Cali. Much easier than a Stoplock Pro to take on and off. Doesn't end up with you beeping your horn. Super impressed. 20240716_124221.jpg

I would hope that you are right however Rav Wilding (BBC Morning Live) recently reported that the VDCS port can be used to override the ignition. Any thoughts?
As an aside, I use a Disklok as a precaution, and am very confident in it as a deterrent.

On some vehicles .
Firstly the California has Deadlocks, VW call it Safelock. So to get in without a key/Remote you have to smash a window and climb in. You can’t just smash a window and open the door using inside handle as it is Deadlocked.
So you get in, alarm sounding, scramble to drivers seat , plug in OBD cable and with alarm activated try to bypass immobiliser. Possible given time, but VW Transporter keys come pre-programmed and have to be individually programmed to vehicle .
It would be quicker to hoist on a low loader .
Each to his own.
Any security that depends on a key, kept with ignition key is No security.
Californias are not stolen by joyriders, they are either stolen using the ignition key/Remote or lifted by a professional team.

So I've just wasted a load of money on something that just gives me a load of hassle each time I want to lock or unlock the Cali, and if left on the floor, could in the event of an accident, fly around the cabin, hit me on the head and kill me. Great!

Thanks @WelshGas, informative as always.
I still think a physical deterrent is useful even if it only prevents the hassle of the smashed window, but your points are good. Ta.

Disagree, not a waste at all. Think of it as a deterrent so an attempted theft is avoided along with the associated hassle :thumb
As an aside, my dislike sits on the floor against the front seats, never budges an inch. Takes seconds to fit or remove. More importantly it gives me immense peace of mind that a thief might target the van next door rather than mine.

Or get a ghost 2 fitted and leave the door open and key on dashboard.
