Winch Straps

I'm looking to carry a couple of surfboards on my roof rack on my T6 and I came across these van-racks link but I can't find any more mention of them anyway. I wondered if anyone had any experience using such a thing as I'm conscious that tying the boards down on the roof is going to be a bit of a faff and am keen to find ways to make it easier/safer. Any other suggestions/recommendations about best way to load/tie-down surfboards would also be much appreciated.
