Thanks we will look out for that space, when our Ocean arrives.
We use these, which work wellJust bought a cheapo Eurohike 3 pole / 2 panel version from Go Outdoors. Away this weekend; my thought is to put the awning out halfway (tend not to have it out further than that anyway so it's not too "sail like" when not on site) then basically start the windbreak close to the opening position of the door, literally go around the pole on the awning before terminating partway across the awning "front". All we want is enough to provide some sheltered outside cooking space as the Cadac doesn't like breezy weather and I don't like full-on cooking in the van! We shall see how we get on . . . I looked at the "beach" type with wood poles, but they're big and heavy - yet more space requirements. This little one we've bought is very compact.
I'm more than happy to sit there without an awning soaking up the environment (and abroad I do), but in the UK it seems it's more likely I'll be soaking up the rain, with a cooker that's blown out and the froth off my lukewarm ale blown into my face. As much as I'd like to rock that look, it's not really my cup of tea (or beer).Camp next to a hedgerow! Nothing defines an Englishman abroad than the fortifications they erect around their pitch..... don't forget your floodlights, cameras and inflatable watchtower
We've got a Safari Chef 30; there is a windshield accessory for it but I'm unimpressed (basically just guards one of the vent holes). I reckon I could make something better fairly easily if I had the time. What Cadac do you have? We bought a wind break that sits on our cooking table.
