Hi, I read a lot of posts about this subject before removing our awning and it wasn't clear about the bracket bolts in the roof.
I thought I'd show what was on the California Ocean 2018 which we have in the attached photo. I replaced the bolts with 10mm hex bolts shown to avoid any possible damage.
