Hello all

I'm looking into a TV/ dvd unit. Not that it will be used much but would like one to hand. Any ideas of what will work power wise etc. What do you all use?

Most use Avtex (like me!) / cheapo equivalent or iPad

If you are going off-piste (ie trying to save a fortune over an Avtex), check that the power transformer (the box between the plug and the TV) transforms the 240v down to 12v (ie not 19v or 5v). Then it's pretty easy to power from a 12v socket.

I think I might start another TV thread next week just to annoy Wim!

I did look through them and considered the environment before posting :)

Not bothered at all , you can't have enough info.....
I do :headbang each time i see a post on TV in a Cali , can't see why , park your Cali somewhere with a view , make a koffee/thee or glass wine and enjoy the view!

Wim the British people love the TV, we laugh as we walk past them on campsites in summer with their big antenna and dish

Whilst everyone else is watching tv it means all the lovely places to go on walks with the dogs will be quiet - so as far as I'm concerned everyone else can have a tv and we can enjoy mother nature undisturbed. Bliss...

Just get an iPad Pro, Akron bracket and an elgato eye tv w and be done with it.

Agree but when it is raining cat's and dog's and you are camped miles from the pub and it is pitch black outside a little bit of TV is OK I say

Another vote here for an iPad + eyetv, iPad + £60 not reliant on wifi or data.
Eye TV is the smaller than a matchbox & we normally have an iPad with us anyway so cheaper than buying a tv and efficient use of space.

Sounds good, its a just incase option, as depending on weather or of my 19 month old daughter needs a peppa pig hit, I want to be prepared :)

Whilst I generally agree with your sentiments, especially the drinking of the grape whilst enjoying a good view, if you use your vehicle all year round you are looking at some long and very dark evenings. You may read, go to the theatre, cinema or pub but I doubt if you will want to do that every evening.

No, just the ENGLISH. The Welsh, Scottish and N. Irish are out enjoying the sights and the local food and wine/beer.:bananadance

Do must admit we got a few movies on our iPad , but seeing people fiiting large screens and carry sat .disches in a Cali makes me wonder why...
I personal can not remember the last time i read a book :Nailbiting do not have the patience for it .
I carry some x-words ( don't know if it is correct Englisch) in case i still have nothing on my hands afther coocking-dishwashing-walk the dog - checking the route for the next days-chatting with the neighbours-using the wifi if there is.....oh and go to sleep early and have a early wake up ...

We once got badly snowed in and were so glad of an ipad with several films on it. It was a very boring weekend. After that we purchased a 12v tv which we've used once and don't take with us anymore. It now resides in the bedroom instead. ;)

I think the ipad option is much better suited to a camper and the ipad has a great battery life anyway. :) I still think I'm more likely to use my rocket to get a wifi signal and watch on demand stuff. I hate watching adverts on live tv ;)

Hi, I wondered if this is still the best option a year on? Picking up our beach on Friday :pinkbanana

We've got an Eye TV W and I'd strongly recommend it - nice and portable. Also got an Avtex 12v boosted aerial for poor signal areas. When they update the iPad Pro (probably this/next month) I'll probably consider upgrading from my normal iPad for bigger screen space and maybe get a mount like that one too.

It's in my amazon basket, so thank you very much for replying :)

Must be English - busy watching TV as it has taken over 12 months to " Disagree ".

For me, this is better than ever, tech moves on at such a pace and the iPad option is incredible if, for example, you subscribe to Sky Q at home.

For live TV, streaming is an option, but can be hit and miss, so as others have said, a portable EyeTV device and powered AVTEX aerial stand ready if I need to watch the Rugby!!
