It depends . On my previous California i fitted side bars and chrome strip myself , however i let CVS fit the lowering springs and i would suggest you add 4 wheel laser wheel alignment to your costings as well .I once didn't ........it cost me 4 tyres 3000 miles later . Now i always have it checked.

Cool. V useful advice.

As for DIY, you'd be amused to know that my talent and inclination is subterranean.

VW it will be....

Hurray my Beach has finally been completed and is on its way. It's been a long wait (ordered 22nd February).

Any recent experience on number of days to get from the factory to the UK dealer?

Ours was in the German port by 31 August. We took delivery on 20th September.

Thanks, think I'll plan on a Friday 14th October collection. Won't be far off I hope.

Seems to be consistent with the 8 month waiting time experienced by others.

Two weeks from in port to delivery. But can be quicker.

Same as gestation period for babies, roughly.

And same level of expectation...and curiosity and impatience.

I got the brilliant 'confirmed' email today.
Ordered my DSG Beach at the end of May. Build confirmed for week 40.
Dealer (nice guy Guy) says end of October/early November which will have been just over 5months from order to pick up. That makes me one of the lucky ones I think.

Congratulations! I've still got to wait until spring 2017.

I was emailed on Friday evening. 204x4 DSG Ocean, ordered June 6th, build week 37, now in status 30. I was hoping to have it delayed until the spring 2017. Typical, others are eager for delivery and they get delayed I'm not in any hurry and have not been delayed :headbang

Not the end of the world though !

Confirmation is the biggest wait. 4 months for me to be confirmed build!

The frustrating thing is that although I have made a couple of additions I have now been told that it may now be too late to add anything else.:Nailbiting:Nailbiting:Nailbiting

Really? I thought you had a bit longer than 3/4 weeks to mess round with spec!
What you tried adding?

The magnetic torch, bit of an afterthought really, perhaps didn't cost enough lol.
My dealer's email included the following : 'I will try and add the torch but it may have passed the point we can add anything'. I'll speak to him during the week because he didn't answer my question as to why VW say I can't have mudflaps with HD anti-roll bars and suspension.

Why ever not? We've specced mudflaps and antirolll bars on ours... Does the suspension drop the ride height maybe so that the mudflaps would then scrape along the ground?

Not sure how truthful his statement is because I later asked if the HD anti-roll bars and suspension affected the vehicle height because I was concerned about access to height restricted carparks etc and he hasn't answered that either. Did wonder if he wants me to have the mudflaps dealer fitted!
