Aires/site near Calais

I'll let him know! Hope you are enjoying your holiday :)

Back home now.

I only popped over to visit the WW1 dugout underneath Zonnebeke Church at Ypres.

Perfectly preserved, as it was in 1918. Was flooded until discovered in 1989 and only open for the 100 days of the passendale centenary before being allowed to flood again.

La Cupole museum, centre, etc is amazing. http://www.lacoupole-france.co.uk

We did Blockhouse and La Coupole for a second time this last visit. We also visited the Arras Memorial and found both my Great Grand Father and Mrs Loz's Great uncle there.

I used to use City Europe but it's pretty noisy with staff arriving for work in the early hours.

Now I always use the Aire at Gravelines just up the coast. Quite and a nice view.
We’re on a late crossing (10.30pm) this coming Friday and heading towards Holland. Gravelines looked ideal in terms of distance. Is the one that you use the one by the quayside?

We just got back - took the Aires book with us and drifted around. We had to go to Germany for a show, but the rest of the time we just winged it. We stayed at a lovely one about 1.5 hours from Calais on arrival - I can't remember the name of the village but I think it was Number 67 in the Northern France section - nearest big town was St Quentin. On the way back we went to a beautiful village called Embry which has a gorgeous little aire with lovely countryside views and amazingly toilets and showers too. Lovely lady who comes and collects the money (8 Euros for camping only, tokens for the extras). It was just over an hour back up to the tunnel this morning through the fog.
