Spoke to Jay today. My build week was confirmed to me today as week 51. It’s a 204 diesel DSG.

He also said that there is no chance of the Cali not arriving at all because the issue is not to do with the changes in the new emission rules. Apparently, it was picked up in testing that the box readings were too high ONLY WHEN THE DPF WAS REGENERATING (put it in caps in case anyone skim read that part) the normal emissions are within limits. He seemed confident in his answer and seems like a genuine guy and really helpful.

I asked him about other models and even manufacturers may be affected by the same thing and he said it’s specific to this vehicle and sometimes these things happen in the motor industry. As soon as it was spotted, VW ceased registering them. They have a fix which has been programmed or tested by an external company (can’t remember which) and is currently with the authority. They have been told that they will be notified on Friday. Jay didn’t think this is a problem because, the fix which is an electronic configuration fix has solved the issue, it just needs sign off from the authority. I suppose obviously being an authority, they could miss the expected Friday deadline.

Once the fix is given the go ahead, it is a 20-30minute job in dealer or factory to apply the fix.

My Cali is still at factory and jay said that they would make it a priority because it was ordered on 31st October. They are providing me a temporary vehicle though.

I’ve only chased this since Monday and have been very happy with the way it has been dealt with by both Liverpool VW van centre and VW UK.
 
So talk of reducing the engine output is just a rumor then???

Looks that way. I asked that and Jay said that the output would not be affected. If output was then VW wouldn’t have fulfilled the bill of sale as that’s not the vehicle you agreed to purchase.
 
Lets hope so then. It is starting to sound like there are two separate issues at play here. \

1. Compliance with existing emissions standards (separate to WLTP), which is apparently an issue with DPF regen

2. Future compliance with WLTP/real world driving emissions tests, where they are looking to slightly downgrade the engine output as per diagram seen previously.

I can understand why VW haven't dealt with both of these in one go as they wouldn't be fulfilling a sale if they implemented (2) above right now.

Still doesn't explain the deletion of the manual 150 and 204 models though? Maybe they can't find a way to control the DPF regen without DSG (ie holding it in a lower gear for longer, hotter engine running during regen?)

The only deletion was for the petrol engine, the diesels were only delayed according to the provided schedule.
 
I didn't think they were going to produce the 150 manual and 204 manual diesels any more? There are people on here who have had their 150 manual order changed to be a 150 DSG (diesel) at the factory at no cost to them..
 
If you look back the posts you can see the revised schedule. Petrol is not continued and the 204 slightly reduced. As for the amended orders to DSG who knows maybe by way of apology. The 150(110kw) is apparently the biggest seller in the T6 range.

Mine (204 dsg) was built week 49, hoping it will be on the first boat over!

It’s all starting to sound a bit more positive, roll on Friday, hopefully we’ll at last have some firm news.
 
Lets hope so as the fuel consumption of this petrol 204 DSG we have been loaned is absolutely terrible, c. 22mpg in mixed driving.

I'm not expecting any more than about 30mpg from the diesel 204 DSG but that is quite a % increase over the petrol!!

I must not grumble though, VW are looking after us very well at the moment.

The 150 Petrol was thirsty as well.
I posted my experience on the T6 forum, but apparently the 204 was more economical and had much better performance.
I just couldn’t see how the 204 was going to be more economical than the 150
Some people just listen to what they want to believe.

If it's three months old why not suggest that the dealer sell it to you as an ex-demonstrator........ with a very healthy discount of course. Usually, they will only keep their demo vans for three months before selling them on.


Yeah that’s our plan. We’ll be calling tomorrow but we’re sitting right for the big mid-Feb announcement haha!
 
Just broke cover (12:50 pm) and spoke to Jay. No update to report form last Friday.

That is, Jay is still waiting for VW to tell him the “fix” has been approved. I mentioned that this forum had recently posted links to articles stating the fix had been approved and delivery would start in March. He said that he was not aware of such reports although he believes news on the stiuation is imminent. Once the fix was approved he confirmed it would not take long to apply to the vehicles and shipping would start.
 
Just spoke to Jay.

No real new news. He said he is in again tomorrow so will ring if there is an update and he said there is still time today too as VW do sometimes send out late bulletins too.

He said that he is expecting to start moving vehicles 24 hours after they get notification and that all additional transport is in place and waiting for the OK. He reiterated that VW are VERY keen to get these vehicles moving to the UK and to their owners ASAP.

Wait and see again :)
 
Fingers crossed for all those waiting and hopefully a good outcome. It will have been worth the wait.:thumb
