Slide out shelf for left hand cupboard could be very useful. I think you may have cost me more money :)

Shame the front edge isn’t curved to match the existing shelf.

Sorry! ;)

I already have the usual under sink drawers, and think I've read you may have fitted them too. I love how much easier it makes accessing all the stuff as it used to drive me to distraction, especially when the table was up. Still haven't found a good way of storing stuff in the left cupboard and am always looking for things that make life easier. Will add it to my list of ideas I can come back to!

That's the problem with all the drawer options I suppose. I'm sure a clever person could make something bespoke but then I imagine it would cost even more!

I think drawers on the right side are an excellent addition. Mine are ordered from the club shop. I have box’s full of stuff and cannot remember what I have and what I don’t have. So drawers are easily slid out to check.

I have the same ones and they are one of my favourite accessories so far. I just thought people might like to see other options.

Any idea if that shelf is high enough to pull out whilst the bed is made up ?

I really like the other options for sure, the left hand top sliding drawer is great, pull out and grab what you need to make tea / coffee / hot choc !
Will the drawer pull out if you have a S2S self inflating mattress on the folded down bed ?
That would be perfect if it did

Agree.

Good morning,

I saw the slide out drawers before I ordered the 3x drawer kit. I decided against the slide out drawers because of the price. The way I understood is that the kit has to be conifgured with holders and 3x slide out drawers. The cost was then rather high.

I went into the van and sat down on the back bench to have a look if a slide out drawer could be from benifit. Thinking about it, I am not sure if it could be practical. Most of the time I am sitting on the left seat, just beside the cupoard. This means each time I have to move seat if I want to pull out the drawer - mhh. I have to think about this.

Regards,
Eberhard

That's a very good point. I suppose I would still have to move to get at what I want in the left cupboard either way but it might make it easier to pull out and grab what I need rather than moving things to get at the items at the back.

Think it will stay on my ideas board for now!

This is a better view to see the height of the drawer; it clears the seat with plenty of room but not sure if it does with mattresses/toppers on.

To me it gives a bit of flexibility. You obviously don’t have to pull it out - you can still reach into the cupboard to get things. But when you do want to pull it out, maybe as an additional work surface rather than for storage, it might be useful. I think one thing to be wary of though, is what you store on there. One spillage when it’s in the pulled out position and you potentially have a stained seat!!

....I do wonder if you could achieve the same effect by simply buying/ fixing a second shelf and then using the clear plastic fridge organiser boxes to pull out instead.

Does anyone know if you can add extra shelves?

Does anyone know how it attaches?

Call me risk averse, but I don’t like making any non-reversible changes to our Cali. So I’m keen to understand what this involves.

Same as the extra drawers in the right hand cupboard, the aluminium frames and runners are attached with self adhesive tape. No drilling the kitchen unit. Could therefore i’m sure they could be removed at a future date (but why would you? They’re a great addition (IMO))

You can add extra shelves. I fitted the drawers in the right hand cupboard and sold the redundant shelf to a club member. There should be a few unneeded shelves out there because quite a few people have fitted the drawer kit. You’ll need the retaining clips as well as the shelf.

Good afternoon,

The way I understood it, there are the same kind of holders (obviously a wee bit smaller) as for the drawer kit. Those drawers will be glued onto the side wall. It seems to be rather tide. But I can imagine it is possible to get off again.

For me I am not still convinced that the pull out drawer on the left of the cupoard is from benifit. Because even if it is inside the shelf beneath it is now narrow, meaning things in there might be difficult to get.

In the next days I will have another look in the camper to try to imagine how it could work and if it will ad value to as a storage solution.

Eberhard

Thanks, in which case I think this thread has just cost me €125 (incl delivery to UK)

We replaced our home kitchen a few years ago and added lots of pull out drawers - they have revolutionised our kitchen, so I’m (perhaps overly) excited about this pull out shelf

Hello,

That is actually a good idea, haven't thought about that. I wonder if the shelf from the right is the same as from the left. I will give it a try in the next days.

I was thinking the same thing as my spare shelf is in the garage.

I have had a look in the under hon cupboard and realised I’d need to drill holes to fit the shelf clips. I know @Aubergine-ine drills holes all the time but they advise caution to avoid hidden electrics. I can imagine there could be a number of cables from the fridge etc in close proximity. I may not be brave enough to get the drill out for fear of damaging it and the ensuing costly repair!

I totally agree. Once everything has an easily accessible home, where you don’t need to move things to get at them, staying organised is so much easier. Drawers or pull out boxes are the way to go.

You can drill holes in the fridge side wall, but use a depth stop to make sure you dont go too deep, the shelf can be moved over, but as it is curved you need to remove the front edge and turn the shlf over ten re attach the edge, its quite simple to do

Thank you for the picture; that’s just what I was thinking of for the shelf.

I’d be tempted to leave the edging off to make it easier to pull out the baskets but that might be tempting fate and a damaged door!

Never used a ‘depth stop’ before but presume I can get one at a good DIY merchants.

I don’t think the right and left fixed shelves are not the same in a T6.1 due to the curvature of the front edge.
