Dodge, mine started it's build the week before yours on March 8th and was finished and sitting at Emden released for shipping status 38, by March 22nd. However, it has been flipping sitting there ever since!!!! So don't worry, yours may have taken longer to build but will no doubt go straight onto the Malacca Highway!!
We have the same build start week as you, but as of yesterday still at status 20. Please ask your van to hold the boat for us

Hi Susi
So sorry to hear that. I do hope you get better soon. I'm going to speak with the supplier today and get some clearer understanding. I'm wondering if the VW chat meant '36' as in at port not build (hoping). I ordered a 204 4 motion PS with quite specific requests. I think those requests have possibly pushed it down the line.
In any event, if your comfortable sending on pics and details of your sale to my email - dkennett@fooditude.co.uk or attach on here - I'll certainly give it some serious consideration and talk to my wife about it all.
Thanks for the message, very much appreciated. Have a good Easter.
Dean

Hi Suzi So sorry to hear that your health issues mean you can’t enjoy your new Cali..my best wishes for the future, keep safe

That I suspect is very wishful thinking. Many orders from Aug/Sep have only now just been built and many Oct orders are still yet to be. Reality is lead times are long and that provisional build weeks have little relation to actual build weeks. Based on what many on here have reported week 36 may well come forward by a month and will likely go through a series of random numbers in the interim. Buckle in for a very frustrating ride if you stick with the order.

I wonder why they issue provisional build weeks (status 10) to customers when they seem to mean so little. Better if they just gave you an "orders are taking between 6 and 8 months currently" until your order is confirmed (status 20).

Just the standard packages for an Ocean. Pro nav but we did select blue bellows to go with the starlight blue paint.

thanks for that. I think the anxiety around this should be sent to someone at VW. I'd love to set up my own CALI dealership that just deals with those as opposed to commercial dealers. Nobody actually has an eye on this and there are so many variations or possible outcomes. I could have bought 911 and be driving it half way round Europe by now. Maybe I might still get the 911....with a caravan.

Great news. I think you ordered in September. I ordered 8 Oct and am still at 00! But the dealer told me again this week mine is due to start build in April. All very confusing but I'm hopeful I'm still just a month behind you...
I have just had some great news from the dealer this week, my order is now at Sheerness and on the next transporter to the dealers (SMG) hopefully for next week. I ordered a 204 4motion on 24th September 2020 so it will end up being about 5.5 months from order to pickup. I haven't seen too many 204's delivered yet so quite interested to see what the differences will be in performance and MPG. Looking through the posts, it might be me but it seems the wooden floor option seems to be a contributor to the weight and delay issues I have read about. This was on my options list right until the last minute when I removed it to trim some fat off the price. Still not sure I should have done it but my order does seem to have come through a bit quicker than I was expecting and i will have carpets installed for most of its life anyway. Very Excited!!! Better start looking to buy the loo and awning... if there are any left!!

Great news, look forward to seeing photos of your 204 (you should change your avatar 199 description) and hearing your views too.
(If I'm not mistaken though, that's 6.5 months...)

You are absolutely right, in the excitement I skipped a month. 6.5 months from order to pickup but I'm nearly there now so who's counting!!! I have just emailed Calikev to request that the T6.1 Ocean 204 4Motion model is added to the avatar list.

I'm in a very similar position. My 204 4Mo has been at Sheerness since mid-last week and should be at the dealer soon. I ordered in mid-september and based on the fact that pretty much anything I wanted was standard, I didn't choose many options other than the bigger fuel tank, so I'm not sure if that has been helpful on it moving through the stages quickly (once we eventually got to 204's being built).

So finally heard that my Cali is starting build on 12/4 a few weeks later than many who ordered at end of Sept, but hey ho. I have a motor race I'd love to use it at on the 29th of May. So I was wondering what my chances of delivery were 6 weeks after the build date? Any thoughts based on other 204 - 4motion deliveries?

That is great new @Dark Ocean! Out of interest, do you know what number you were in the list circulated to dealers? Trying to gauge when mine (also a 204 4motion; number 82) might break cover!

You've done better than us. We ordered a 204 4Motion at the end of Sept with SMG, and it's still at status 20. Hopefully will arrive at the end of April.

I wasn't given a number, SMG have been very good and have kept me updated. I have been quite relaxed about the whole thing as we were in lockdown and it's been cold outside, but now the sunshine is out, I am getting inpatient!!

Hey Susibus, you have the same dealer as us and only ordered a couple of days behind us, it must be down to the availability of the options you went for. Did you opt for the wooden floor? I must admit, I have barely seen any pearl black calis being ordered on the forum which worried me, as this could have been another reason for the delay. I hope your status changes soon!!

Just to let you all know, Calikev has just added T6.1 204 4 Motion to the avatar vehicle dropdown list!!

Hi Swello, I think the speed of the order being built and delivered is very much down to the availability of the options you choose. It sound like our Calis have been keeping each other company on the boat from Germany and now at Sheerness. Send some photos when you get yours and we'll have to keep an eye out for each other when we are allowed out again!!

Our van is still sitting at Emden awaiting shipment. Been there since 18th March, cleared for sailing on 22nd March (status 38)! Apparently it should be on a sailing soon, but can take upto 15 days from being cleared to ship to getting onto a vessel.

Our van has been at Emden since the 16th and I called VW today as we have 3 ships into Grimsby in the last 3 days from Emden and they said it could be another 2 week's before shipping...so I fired of an email to my dealer and made it clear in the strongest terms I am not at all happy or impressed....no idea if it will do any good

Another two weeks!! Hopefully not.

I'll be checking again in a week or so, hopefully both our vans will be in the UK by then. Assuming Grimsby is for shipments going north, then ours will on the same journey.

Does anyone know why they seem to be getting held up at the port?

I have had every excuse under the sun from VW but it boils down to .....nobody knows!!! .. I think there is one person in VW who pulls the numbers out of a hat every day a bit like bingo..and It’s made worse because VW will no longer let dealers self collect from UK ports as they used to due to COVID......also there a financial penalty if a dealer is given special permission by the fact that on your order there an amount for delivery from port to dealer. If the dealer collects, usually on a low loader ( which is not cheap) VW still charge the delivery cost....so me and you pay twice....a great plan by VW for recovering extra profit

Hi well another milestone has been reached today. I am now in transit to the port yay!!!

The build took 23 days rather than the quoted up to 2 weeks but it's finally finished and on its way.

Todays estimate is 3 days to get to Emden ( not sure how slow that transporter is going as its only 158 miles) then sit for 7-10 working days at the port. Then the slow boat to the UK 2-3 days.

That gives me a chance of it arriving in the UK in April, however on the basis of actual rather than the VW forecasts i will add 50% to each stage and should have it by late May.

There’s definitely been some kind of delay in build as our ocean was confirmed as build start in week 11 and it’s now week 14 and still in build.
I wonder if they are using rare Earth metals and experimental plastics?
