New T6.1 order delays

Gutted, just got a call from our dealer in Limerick Ireland and our van will not be built now until week 50, so we will be vanless now until Jan 2022. we ordered it on the 2nd January 2021. and initially told, build week 23, then 25 then 35 now week 50!. It was a Beach, manual, tinted windows, two-tone paint, Bay leaf green and white, aux heater, nothing extra. I can't understand how it has been pushed back so much. It appears UK orders are going through a lot quicker. Anyone else from Ireland finding the same delay? Should I start a thread for Irish Californias?
Dubliner here. When I started looking in April this year, I was told by several dealers that VW Ireland had run out of California allocations for the whole of 2021 already but that I could still place an order for 2022. So I did (end of April) and was told I was the first Irish customer to order for 2022 but that the ETA would be… March 2022.

It’s now been delayed already to May 2022 and VW Ireland have apparently stopped taking orders altogether (even for next year - https://vwcaliforniaclub.com/thread...ntil-mid-next-year-in-ireland-at-least.40647/)

So it’s looking like Ireland is indeed at the back of the queue. And those that haven’t got their order in already will most likely be looking at 2023 to get their vans.

Sorry to hear that - so frustrating.
My UK order Ocean isn't going through quicker though - ordered 8 October, called the dealer yesterday - still no build week. It may be that UK Beaches are coming through quicker though.

Feel for you @66tim99. Yours has been quite the saga.

Ordered mid March in Ireland also. Told maybe in the last quarter of 21.Dealer rang last week to say early 2022 and more or less what you stated above. Also said my build would be at the top of the pile for 22(taken with a pinch of salt). Also asked if I wanted to cancel. No point in cancelling now. Heels dug in for sure. Imagine how gutted you'd feel to see your bus on a campsite somewhere next year.

Or on your dealers website for £10k more than you’d have paid. Dealer would have loved you to cancel

Progress. Caught a lift out of Emden on the Malacca Highway yesterday, arrived in Sheerness a couple of hours ago. So c.2weeks in build, and 8 days in Emden. Fingers crossed for a swift transit to the dealer but really can’t complain since build started; hopefully some normality returning to the process after some of the horror stories seen recently.

My dealer is now telling me the LHD 199/204 4Mo I ordered mid-Nov isn't expected to be delivered until Nov/Dec '21. Was originally told Sept/Nov. On the bright side it should be a MY22.

Indeed, mine built in roughly 2 weeks, was in Emden for three days and then shipped. Awaiting transport to dealers for the last 2 days. Pretty speedy after build to be honest.

Ordered an Ocean 150 in January, was given a 12-20 week leadtime although I had a hunch that was a little optimistic. The dealer (Breeze) have been amazing and give me updates weekly even when the update is no news so I have no complaints about the dealer, but, does anyone know why Volkswagen can’t tell someone that ordered a cali 6mths ago, when it’s going to be built? Even if it’s next year, I’d rather just know so I can plan accordingly?

I wish I could help you with that. We have been waiting for our Coast for 28 weeks now.

I ordered late December and have a build week of 28th June, yours should/could be close behind, but that’s pure speculation

FYI.
Ordered Ocean on 19 Feb 2021, First provisional build week was late June, and the latest update is MY22, Week 45 ( Mid Nov) allocated.

Anyone waiting for a beach to go into build that will be getting a my22 vehicle may want to check the options in configurator as there some new options most noticeable the following

comfort dash option is back
Can now have discovery media pro
There an option for water heater with remote and water heater with timer.
And an option for a refrigerator.

ive asked vw chat to explain what the water heater is and refrigerator but was told the water heater with remote is a remote for the heater which doesn’t sound correct at all, I queried it and got disconnected

My favourite email of the year so far:

"Your Cali is now at the UK port usually 7-10 working days turnaround at this point to get to us depending how busy the ports are."

Come on @Stu@rt. Tell us you've had some positive news too. Did next to each other in the queue translate to next to each other on the boat?

I've been watching your story nearly as closely as mine. :Nailbiting

Anyone else just landed?

Both @Stu@rt and my VW are still in the ground as steel in outer Mongolia waiting to be mined!! I'm almost thinking why not just get a Harley now....nice to hear someone has good news though!

"Yeah but...
Has your Harley got a kitchen?" :D

Feel for you Dean, and everyone else still waiting (some longer than us). Just remember, patience is a virtue (although it doesn't appear to help in getting a Cali delivered). I'll keep my fingers crossed on your behalf.

Mine arrived at Grimsby today :cheers.

So 13 days at Emden much better than the horror stories of late. Actually its exactly a month to today since it started build. I'm guessing I should be able to pick it up start of July.

Fantastic news @Graham T . Genuinely pleased for you. (Don't forget the pics eh?)

No news here. SMG tell me that they can see a chassis number, but can also see that it hasn't left the factory. Online chat just say that it is still in build, as we come to the end of week 5.
Something doesn't add up and as we all know, absolutely nobody cares enough to be honest about the cause of the delay.

Trying not to get too grumpy about it, as I know there are plenty of others that have been waiting longer for 204's or 4mo's. But I do think we must be close to the top of the "Waiting for a UK Coast" leaderboard though.

Wait, or don't wait - There is no 3rd choice. But the summer is looking lost.

My Ocean 204 is at Eurovans and I will collect tomorrow. Hurrah!!

For info my timeline looked like this:

16 Sep 20 - Order placed with DtD.
5 Oct 20 - Order accepted by factory
12 Apr 21 - Build starts (The "List" said march build)
19 May 21 - Van taken to Emden (5 1/2 weeks to build a van??????)
3 June 21 - Shipped to Sheerness
6 June 21 - Consigned to dealer (paperwork exercise which means transport is arranged
16 June 21 - Arrives at dealer
18 June 21 - Pick up.

9 months from start to finish. No unsolicited contact or information from VW or dealer. Dealer has been good in responding to my nagging though despite not having any info themselves. They have been excellent in arranging a quick processing now they are in control of the van.

Fun starts tomorrow.

Great news @Graham C. Exciting times ahead (after you've posted some pics of course).

so got this today, finally - We have just checked with VW for you for an Update on your California Order and 'Great News', they are due to Start Building your California Early Next Month. We should then start to see your vehicle arriving with us towards the end of August.

So roughly 10 months from ordering & 5 months later than expected. Thats my summer camping screwed.

Only this summer. And a lot of places will be rammed full. So maybe try to relax, look on the bright side that you’re van is about to be built and use the time for planning some autumn trips?

Love that attitude @AlisonF
Thank you! 1st world problems, I know!

I can tolerate the waiting (I think). Its just the "nobody caring" bit that makes my blood simmer a little. I must work harder to bring out my nicer side :thumb

The ‘nobody caring’ seems to be common amongst most dealers. But, on here you find people who have been there and so can empathise. And if you are lucky enough to live near a good dealer, it would be like winning the lottery.
